How many would like to see this happen???????

I think they will die off after the election. Political threads, like others, are optional viewing. There's many threads here that I view as pointless and ridiculous, so I just don't view them.:)

I wish.....

carpenterguy, I have tried your suggestion but these guys will not follow it and I get tired of having to coral everything. I suppose I could start bumping them off and then the political threads would really die down.

That's the problem, you can start a thread speaking of a huge buck and SOMEONE will throw a slur in about politics. As quack said, it's near impossible to coral them all together. You never know what you are going to read. You are right about one thing...They are gonna die down a bit soon.:)

Well, i see politics as an important issue. I think taking it off the site would be a mistake, especially since hunting and politics are closely related. I understand that there are some who break the rules and get out of control, but message boards are for just these type of things.

I appreciate that not everyone likes politics, but what topic is there that everyone will enjoy? Do we really want 30 threads of nothing but day by day journals of what someone's kid is doing, who is sick, ect...? I say take the bitter with the sweet. Things will wind down over the next 2 weeks.;)

if nobody wants to read em,why click on em:confused:,unless its bothering a mod for some reason.
freedom of speech.:D

Bothering a mod????????? No. A fellow hunter, sometimes. What EVER gave you the idea you had total freedom of speech on this site???

I would be willing to say HUNTING/FISHING threads are what most come here to read.

As for bothering Mods, it gets like having a bunch of children they keep running through the house with muddy shoes. You get tired of cleaning up the mess. Pretty soon the kids get booted OUTSIDE where they can look in. Some of the kids try putting on a disguise and sneaking back in the back door. ;)

I ask you what threads after that? Perhaps sports threads becuase they dont belong on this site? Maybe most people who dont want these types of threads posted here are angered by the truth of what Obama has to offer us.
Maybe a lot of folks don't like pot stirrers. You know the type that log onto a site and everyone of the first line of posts they throw out are hot topic items that really are not hunting/fishing subjects?

First the classifieds, now politics, whats next seems like everytime someone doesnt like something we as a group lose it. Sound familiar or does it sound like life in general

NO, not at all. This decision is not the Mods.

Community Forum (http://www.kentuckyhunting.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=20) (18 Viewing)
This is the place to discuss all your non-hunting issues. Whether it be politics, religion, or current events, this is the forum for you.

Anyone that doesn't realize the importance of politics to hunting, probably don't hunt.

There is a sizeable difference between discussing politics and the political topics that are posted here most of the time. ;)

Well I suppose we could all talk snot.......

Just because politics may not be your cup of tea doesnt mean you have to read about it.....Hell I never have cared much for marching bands or watching someone blow their nose so I dont read about it......

To say that you cant start a thread about a big deer being shot without it getting highjacked by politics is a bit far fetched IMHO but if you will point to some examples I will reconsider my position.....

BTW the poll is very politically slanted fwiw!

While I dont get involved in most political threads here, I do appreciate that the site is not entirely 100% hunting only, there are some other forums that are anal over any OT threads. While some threads here get out of hand I do actually learn a few things here and there and enjoy reading just about everything.

The above is afterall what brought me to this community. Although it may say that I am new here i have been here before, but it has been a long time. If a person wants to have a discussion about a big buck there are other areas for that.Just curious, what was your previous forum name???

You need to give an allowance for political debate going up to an election, after its over they should taper down on their own.
If they dont then start deleting them, or if there are a bunch of gloating threads going on delete them.

Anytime that you care to check, the Community forum has more viewers than any of the others.

It used to be the Classifieds with the most viewers but "Big Brother" chose to remove it.

So go ahead and remove the community forum also!

... and you can delete my account.

The discussion/poll is not about removing the community forum, it is about the political threads it contains. The classifieds will be back soon, I dont know how soon, but soon.

the community forum is a good place for people of like minds to communicate with others and bounce ideas. i like talking about hunting fishing and camping but i also like to see where others stand on issues so i can understand my own views.

politics will die down after communism takes over. we won't be able to talk about it before long if you oppose the left wingers.

I voted yes for selfish reasons. I'm not REALLY bothered because I don't go into them. At all. But I get tired of looking at every other thread title with some political agenda or conspiracy theory.

I would tentatively vote to keep them because I've found some of the political threads quite entertaining and, like others have said, they do die down somewhat when we're not in "election season".

but.

I'll have to admit, one of the reasons I don't mind them here is that there is a very small percentage of raving moonbats. Most of the folks seem to be sensible and conservative, as is the case with gun and hunting oriented boards. A guitar forum I was active on several years ago was like "huffington lite" and when they banned political discussions, it was, to me at least, a Very Good Thing.

So, I guess if I was a (Check All That Apply: [ ] Liberal, [ ] Union Member, [ ] Female Atheist/Pagan with a uterus, [ ] Welfare Recipient, [ ] Marxist) I probably would like to see them disappear. Being somewhere between Rush Limbaugh and Attila the Hun, however, they don't bother me.

I would like to see this: When someone tries to invoke the First Amendment on a privately owned forum, can we all ridicule them mercilessly?

It does die down, it does after every election.

The thing is how do you decide WHICH political thread to ban???

Think about it, politics is in every part of our life. Politics is government, federal, state and local. Hunting and fishing rules and regulations are though govt and that is part of politics. Beleive it or not but the LFKS is political, so is DU, the NRA ever though groups like those do so much more they still have to get into the political field. So do we ban any thread with them in it??

The everyday news we all see on TV, radio and newspaper is full of political stories all the time. If a bill comes up in Congress that raises the tax on ammo by 200% should we ban any thread about it since it will be political??? What about a bill coming out in Frankfort that REQUIRES members of PETA to be on the KFW Commission?? We can't talk about that since it would be political. In fact just about anything to do with the KFW Commission is political.

The "CORONER" thread would be banned because it's political.

Now are we going to pick and choise which political threads to ban or we REALLY going to ban them ALL???

TedB

I voted no but if you do could you also ban:

Threads about any sport not related to hunting or fishing. I like organized sports even less than politics and I've seen people get alot more upset by something so dumb.

Threads from people wanting to cry because they missed a big buck or better yet they hit it and couldn't find it. Although I do like the part where they get mad when you offer advice. Please just whine in private.

Threads about there NOT being cougars in Kentucky. Everybody knows there are cougars in Kentucky, just ask anybody hanging out at the local store, they'll tell you.

Threads containing pictures of women. I fear these could be taken wrong and others may be offended.

Threads on religion, same grounds as above.

Threads containing kill shots, blood or dead animals, same grounds as above.

Never understand why people who have a problem with political threads can't exercise their right to NOT click on that thread? Can it get any simpler than that? Don't want to read about politics, don't click on political threads.

edit: Short of banning them entirely.:D

The folks that don't want to read it aren't the ones being offended. It's the posters that get bent out of shape over the name-calling and innuendo. Then they come running to the mods asking us to fix it.

Civil discourse is a forgotten skill, it seems. Everything goes straight to the childish playground antics.
