I found a MM light in the woods yesterday. Batteries were still juiced up :-)
I've seen those LED conversion kits at Wally World just wonderin if any one has tried one and if they are any good.
Thanks.

I put one of those LED conversions on a little mag lite that hangs on my workbench. It's fine for lighting up things close up... gun cleaning, for instance... or looking into a dark box or basement corner. Great for a general purpose, low energy consumption light when the power goes out. It's not a focus-able beam like the regular mag lite bulb and won't shine a point of light nearly as far. Your batteries will sure last a lot longer, though.

I haven't used used LED on a mini mag but I bought one that takes 2 D batteries and its nice. Only weird thing is that the spare bulb is a regular (non LED) bulb.

I have a 3-AA mini mag LED that works fine. I bought the conversion for another light that I have, and it is not as bright. I did convert a 3-D cell maglight to led, the zenon or crypton bulbs both cast a ray much better, but are not a bright up close.
As Manzanita stated, the LED lights are pretty mizerly on battery consuption. For a work light they seem to be fine. For tracking deer, I would have a zenon or crypton backup.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I converted my camp MM...and I love it for that purpose. Can't beat it for close up light.

The LED version (Not aftermarket LED) is alot brighter than the standard mini-mag.
