My ex-wife started taking flying lessons about the time our divorce started and she got her license shortly before our divorce was final, later that same year.
This afternoon, she narrowly escaped injury in the aircraft she was piloting when she was forced to make an emergency landing in western Texas because of bad weather.
The NTSB issued a preliminary report, citing pilot error: She was flying a single engine aircraft in IFR (instrument flight rating) conditions while only having obtained a VFR (visual flight rating) rating.
The absence of a post-crash fire was likely due to insufficient fuel on board. No one on the ground was injured.
Photograph below were taken at the scene show the extent of damage to her aircraft.
She was very lucky.

My wife was looking at the photo of the "dual purpose" aircraft. She said she has seen one in the corner of the kitchen before, but has know idea was it's for or how to use it.

^ hehehe...
That reminds me of a true story. Ond Sunday morning I was sitting at the table reading the paper when I caught a glimpse of the (now ex) wife walking by me carrying a broom. I mumbled "Going somewhere?"
About a second later that broom came through the paper & whacked my head!

Went to the doctor couple weeks ago. Talking to nurse, said she was going to dress up as witch for holiday. Told her she had lost some weight and she said thanks. Ask her if that was so her broom would get better gas mileage. Could've heard a pin drop.
