One of our members recently posted a topic "asking" about discussing screw-in steps and their use. This somehow evolved into a 4 wheeler thread. While most of the opinion was against trying to regulate "anything" that happens on private property, the original posting was with good intention and was obviously something that needed discussing. I'm not so sure about the 4 wheeler thread, as I believe it was an attempt to crudely show the posters that they were in error and that their opinions flawed.
Both threads didn't recieve much support, because they are infringments on personnel rights and I suspect will never be popular. It still didn't hurt to discuss it and the member had that right to post it. Both sides of the argument had merit. But not so with the 4 wheeler thread.
I'm thinking we need to be aware that issues will arise that we might not agree with, but the majority opinion will form "our" opinion. Not what we want or what we wish would happen as individuals. I'm hoping you'll post only serious matters in the Cyberhunter's thread and try and keep it on a level that we can all understand. If you want to make a point, use one of the other threads.
I'm not trying to pick on anyone person here and that's not the point. The point is, just try and think out your post before you put it down. We'll soon be faced with the loss of another type of personnl freedom, and one that only happens mostly only on private property. That's going to be the banning of feeders and baiting. It's just around the corner and will be here before you know it. The issues are similar to those discussed in the steps and ATV thread. At least I can see the similarities?

Multi.... In the long run this Cyber-Hunters organization will represent a small percentage of the hunters in this state. What your organization with it's voice in the league of sportsman either votes for or against can effect a lot of people in the long run. Be sure real sure things are thought out to thier entire results on how it will effect hunters who have never heard of the Cyber-Hunters. The quickest way to gain enemys is start changeing things such as banning items. I wish your organization all the best an hope it is a big success...BUT remember be carefull what you wish for..you might just get it.

Folks I don't think Valley wanted to ban screw in steps. I think he just wanted a discussion. You will note that there were NO motions made to cast a vote on this.
Let's not allow an argument over something as paltry as screw in steps "screw" us. Take a deep breath and relax folks. The seasons of your choice are around the corner.

MULTI:
I DISAGREE WITH YOU. SCREW IN STEPS WAS NOT A MORE LEGITIMATE ARGUMENT WORTHY OF MORE DISCUSSION. There was not one social/medical/environmental reason that warranted it. If you felt my post was in poor taste well then there is some baggage around here that I didn't bring. Things have a funny way of turning in here.
Feeding systems might SERIOUSLY spread disease and I can't complain if the state chooses to ban them. That would be in the interest of the publics saftey and concern. That is the real purpose of government. Screw in steps not even close. BUT BANNING PRODUCTS NEEDLESSLY NOW THAT'S WORTH DISCUSSING.
My point about the 4 wheelers is HUMANS are dying and getting paralyized (3 accidents in 1 day in 1 community) but we don't ban them and shouldn't. Yet a few trees dye and some saws break and suddenly banning warrants discussion. Barring in mind I never said I liked them.
Actually what I saw in the 4 wheeler discussion room were some real Americans talking about 4 wheelers and not wanting freedom infringed upon. It was meant to bring discussion and thought. I'm sure some people would like them banned.
If Cyber Hunters is going to call that poor taste (the original posting was with good intention and was obviously something that needed discussing. I'm not so sure about the 4 wheeler thread, as I believe it was an attempt to crudely show the posters that they were in error and that their opinions flawed.) People were much harsher to me in the screw in steps place (those post are now gone) But boy you sure never jumped in there did YOU. I think I stepped away from the discussion which was going no where and tried in a new venue from a new approach to make a point. One that I strongly believe in. You calling that a crude attempt seems out of line.
MULTI YOU HAVE A TENDENCY TO FLOG PUBLICLY AND I THINK YOU DO IT WHEN YOUR NOT ALWAYS IN THE RIGHT. I BELIEVE YOU HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS BUT I THINK YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT YOUR PUBLIC FLOGGING. If you want to call somthing to question do it by email first. THE PEN IS MIGHTYER THEN THE SWORD USE IT CAUTIOSLY AND WITH PURPOSE. I STILL STAND BEHIND MY POINT. HOW ABOUT YOU?
AGAIN I COME TO QUESTION CYBER HUNTERS AND THEIR ACCEPTANCE OF THE HUNTING COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. OR MAYBE IT'S JUST ME.

Xtreme I would have done better to read your post before responding. I started typing before you and finished after you.
Though I do not retract what I said.

although i dont agree with or do a lot of things that i think are in poor taste(like pornography and rap music), i dont think they should be banned. Banning and censorship are the start of tyranny, and erode our freedoms as individuals. As an example, i am an avid bass fisherman. I have had little jerk offs, ride by sooo close that they spray me, or go between me and a bank, while i am fishing, even though i can cast 10 feet up the bank. I have heard myself saying that I wish they would ban those da#! things. But do I really wish they were banned???? Not really. some people get enjoyment from them, and thats their thing. What i think we really need is more enforcement of the rules that we already have, and we won't see as much need for new ones. It wouldnt hurt my feelings none if they banned screw in steps or 4 wheelers, i dont use either of them. BUT, who am I to judge what other people can and can't do on their land, THEY OWN IT.
I also think the sportsman of KY have more important fish to fry.
just my 2 cents

Well said Stevenvalley. That allows me to not have to type as much.
Folks, we have MUCH BIGGER fish to fry than to argue over tree steps and 4 wheelers. There have been things said along the way that have been improper and I am guilty as well. It's pretty obvious that the views of all sides are exposed.
Folks lets examine the fact there was NO ATTEMPT to make any motions of any kind to outlaw ANYTHING that is already legal to use in this state.
If there are any more personal issues regarding this thread I think it would be in our best interest to address them through private E-mail.
We have much bigger issues to deal with such as the potential loss of Auxier Flats WMA in which a meeting will be held today in regards of.
I don't like "stepping" in and useing any moderator buttons. It kind of goes against my grain but I feel that to prevent any more hard feelings and any damage to this organization I must lock this topic.
