The use of dogs is for fall hunting only. I think that most people use pointer or setter breeds crossed with curs. Not sure on that. I do know that the dog finds a flock and then scatters them. When the dog scatters the flock he barks letting the hunter know. You then set up at the scatter site and call the birds back. So regardlees of breed, you need a dog that will lie still under camo netting while the birds are coming back in. Sounds like alot of fun to me
I have a friend that uses a Vislia

I know it works. Last fall while deer hunting I had been watching a flock of turkeys pick through the hardwoods when a dog came by and spooked the turkeys. They flew in all directions. Within 30 mins. they started coming back to the exact spot from where the dog spooked'em. They were doing that kee kee calling, too.

I can't stand hunting with dogs or even people that have dogs. They have a weird smell. They always scare off the animals that we're hunting too. I have never hunted with anyone that had a good dog either.

Sounds like you're itching for an internet fight there Charlie. Take it over to the NWTF message board. They fight about everything over there. Just for the record I've owned several good dogs and I don't think I smell too bad [:D][;)].

The problem charlie is in your message. Quote "I have never hunted with anyone who had a good dog either" Dogs are great and mine does stink he is a basset hound who couldn't hunt a piece of ass but I love him and take him outdoors anytime I get the chance. Challenge yourself to find a respectable bird hunter in your area and get him to take you out with his dogs you will be more than impressed. You'll probably go get a

Just hope my hard earned set-up ain't visited by someone else's dog. I hear claims that not that many people will engage in this type hunting, yet the commission won't allow an extra week for archery hunting in the spring!(?)!! Don't think you will c very many hunters there either. I will withold my disgust on dog's and turkey's until i c the effects!
