I've been hunting turkeys for a long time. I just started using mouth calls about 5 years ago though. But, I cannot seem to make a purr with a mouth call. I heard a guy on Knight and Hale's program last night making some of the best purrs I've ever heard. Can any of you tell me what the trick is here? Any special sounds or words to say when trying to make this call?

Creekhunter...you are right about the purr calls he was making. Unbelieveable! I only WISH I could sound that good.

That's been the toughest thing for me to learn. I only feel confident when I make a gargle in my throat, while relaxing my lips at the same time in order to make them vibrate. It seems like to me any way, that the two together make a nice sound. I still havn't "mastered" the control over it completely though. I also like to throw in a little cluck at the end of it to vary the presentation.
