View Full Version : I've reached my limit on reading/hearing about: Election, economy, gas prices, etc.

I've reached my limit. I can't stand to hear another election snippet. No more economy news for me. Don't care about gas prices no more. Couldn't care less that Tina Fey looks a little like Sarah Palin (or vice versa) and that Sarah may be on SNL. The media is absolutely going apey on all the turmoil and they're shoving it down our throat and it's worn me down. I know who I'm voting for, I didn't cause the financial crisis and can't do anything about it other than continue to be fiscally responsible myself and I gotta buy gas, no way around that. I'm not listening to another soundbite, reading another article, or internet post about any of the aforementioned or anything related. Thanks for letting me rant. Anybody want to talk about the weather?

The weather would be perfect if it wasn't for this gloomy cloud of economic crisis over our heads! ;) :D

Wife will be home soon after being gone a week, leaving me to tend the kids........at times I would have rather been back fighting the Taliban!:D Anyway, have'nt caught the weather, more importantly, I can't find my calendar, or the almanac that has the moon phases and best fishing days. Do you have any of that info?

I'm right there with ya buddy. Let me tell you how I almost lost it today...
I am constantly checking my phone at work, watching stocks, and keeping up with the latest headlines.

So I notice the markets just closed down over 600 points in a late afternoon nose dive. I check the national headlines to get the story behind it today. What am I greeted with? 'Jolie appears to be breast feeding on cover of new W magazine'.:mad::mad: I will send a death threat to the AP tomorrow.

I've reached my limit.

Me too, brother.

I know how bad things are and the very likely possibility of what may happen to my job, I don't need to be beat over the head with it 24/7.

I saw on a magazine at Kmart today that Tom Cruise and Katie's kid was lonely.

Art, I think it's all your fault! At least I blame you for my present condition. Before this week and reading your post on the economy and stock market cliff diving, I was ignorant to how things were really impacting me. I'm still getting a paycheck and paying the bills, along with my wife, the same way we have for years now. Then on Monday I see you post and I start thinking about my 401k. So, out of curiosity I go out to the website and take a look... My jaw dropped! After a little research I realize that I've lost $4k since June 1!!! What the heck happend after June 1??? Until that time I was making a little money, not much, but I wasn't losing money on my plan and now $4k is just gone! So, I blame you!!! Thanks for taking a $h!# in my wheaties!!!

jk - :D (it sucks that I really did lose $4k in 4 months!)

I doubt it. If they've made it this long then there's no point in starting now. there are no Presidents under the rocks anyway.

The website for my 401K hasn't worked in 2 weeks. How's that for a bad sign?

didn't watch a bit of news today. Went and repaired the swings at Pot Roast's pre school playground this morning. Came home and worked up an acre and a half for a winter wheat food plot (been to dang dry to sink a disc in until the rain yesterday:mad:) Came in and got a shower then went bow hunting. Saw 9 turkeys, 3 coons, several squirrels and 5 deer to far off for a shot. The turkeys were 2 hens and 7 poults so I let em pass hoping for a longbeard. they flew up to roost in the trees around me. One poult was on a limb about 30 yards away checking me out but they didn't flush when I got down. Beat the hell out of work and watching the news.

Agreed.

I made a thread very similar to this about a week ago.

I decorated our house today for Halloween for the first time ever. Always loved Halloween growing up but without kids it seemed kind of stupid to decorate for it. Since we added a youngun this year, and I actually have Halloween off for the first time in 7 years, I went all out on the decorations. I was like a kid myself today. Made me feel better after finding out we have to put Jake in a helmet to correct a flat spot on his head. He has to wear the helmet 22 hours a day for 3 months. Did I mention that if insurance doesn't cover it, it's gonna cost us $1800 out of pocket?

That sucks, but like I keep telling myself... it could have been a lot worse. I'm glad to hear that it is relatively easily remedied.

I told you that resting your beer on your wife's stomach for 9 months probably wasn't a good idea. ;):D

I have blanked out of my mind what the pediatric cardiologist was out of pocket to monitor Alyssa for 2 years. Having kids is one of the scariest things a person can go through. I'm getting grey hair and she's just 3.

Try losing about 50k. That sucks. But the market will bounce back and be stronger. And if it doesn't then we will have bigger troubles than our retirements.

Hmm... there hasn't been a good "city boy vs. country boy" or "one part of KY vs. some other part of KY" thread in at least a couple of days...

Its either one of those or a "shoot the coon dog" thread, take your pick.

Personally, I only shoot coon dogs from western KY, as they are clearly inferior to the fine hounds from the Cumberland Plateau, but I really don't have the energy to start a new thread about it.

Maybe people are starting to realize that there really isn't much difference? Wait, that couldn't be it. I don't have an answer for this one.

Or it could just possibly be that those of us who really do have all the answers are simply worn out with trying to explain it to those that don't. Like the old saying about opinions goes.....you know everyone has one, some are just bigger than others. After all it don't take a rocket scientist (sorry RR, nothing intended) to know that the central part of Kentucky doesn't have a lot to brag about and that most of the real good stuff and people are in western Kentucky and the rest are in eastern Kentucky.
