Duster, thank your grandson for me, tell him to be safe, but most of all tell him to adjust, and look for new TTP's everyday! The battlefield seems to change on a daily basis!Good luck!

Well just got a call from him, he has made it as far as Columbus Ohio and is at a friends house resting. Plans to hit the road again tomorrow to finish the trip home. Only got lost 4 or 5 times so far...he only has to follow 6 roads from Ft Drum to his house in Ky and all are 4 lane or better...LOL....I am sure going to give it to him when he gets here....all I have heard is I won't get lost I got a GPS...Maybe he needs to read the instruction book a little better on how it works.

the new york state thruway is a pain in the but, but then the trip down 71 thru ohio is even worse, seems like it never ends every time i dmake that drive home. Tell him to be safe coming home and use the 15 days to his advantage, to have a good time with family. when he deploys make sure he takes grousers advise about the TTP's. when he does deploy tell him to be safe and alert at all times. maybe i will run into him in the spring, who knows.

Duster hope ya'll have a good time when he's in. I'd say there will be a new person standing in front of you... we wish him the best.
The young man that was sweet on my daughter just finished basic at Ft. Benning a few days ago. My understanding with him..he's heading directly to Ft. Bragg.. hopefully he will get to come in for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I think he will be deployed very soon after that.

Well after 20 or so phone calls he made it to Ky late yesterday. I think he called every 10 miles yesterday asking for directions. Once for those of you who know I-65...he said he had just crossed Salt River...a hour later he called again that he was 10 miles from E-Town and what road was that he was supposed to take from there...I would say he missed the WK parkway and drove to near Bowling Green before turning around once he figure out he was lost....He is the only kid I know that can turn a 12 to 13 hour drive into a 48 hour adventure....:D

In mid Jan they sent about 200 Ft Drum guys down to Ft Campbell for a winter break and to use the sym center....guess what we got our biggest snow of the year the second week they were here...LOL
From what I can find out he is headed to Tallil air base in southern Iraq the end of the month. Reading about that place the temp hit 140 not long ago, At least they will not have to worry about snow looks like.
