Back in my 20's i did it all the time. got busted one time for it. Back then it was no big deal. I was married to a boone county police dispatcher.BCPSCC..... Went to several cop parties where I was way to druck to drive-So i let the one that worked for the county drive...she was druck as well! That was then- I dont drink much anymore but the cops are as bad about it as anyone! And you know who you are!

I got a DUI back in 1982 when I was 18 and fresh out of high school. I'm now 44 and a responsible adult. I still drink some beer from time to time mainly watching the Georgia games but I never drive. It's a good thing because the last game was embarrassing and I was crying in my beer.:D

I think there are two distinct types of people when it comes to alcohol. One who is always aware of his surroundings, and state of mind. The other, an idiot who completely loses touch with reality.

Yep, I've done it.
I've also taken part in the training at EKU. They pay you to drink and let the cadets do sobriety tests. They feed you, get your drinks and make you sober up before you can leave. They also pay you to do it. I learned a LOT doing this. If you drink often, you would be surprised how little alcohol it takes to be legally drunk. You probably would not think you were drunk at all.

I have one drink a week but it took me 7 days to finish the drink! people with false teeth would be better off if they remove their teeth while drinking because the teeth trap the alcohol and will make the breath aha. read higher

I am not proud to say it but i have when i was younger. And i am not saying because i was younger that it was ok then because i did not know better. It was just that i was stupid to do so. I drove drunk several times during thoes years,( i am not going to sugar coat it, i drove alot of times drunk) i was damn lucky i did not kill someone or myself. Even got stopped a couple of times, on one of thoes times i was with someone who got a DUI but because i was not the one behind the wheel i didn't get a ticket. I was every bit as drunk as he was but i guess i concealed it well enough that the officer was willing to let me drive my friends truck on to the house to keep from having it toed. I am 47 years old now. I want to offer you younger fellas a little advice. Be in that one % and be smarter than i was and dont drink & drive. That is something you can be proud of. Being responsible is always something to be proud of and it takes a whole lot more of a man to be responsible than to be a fool or moron. And myself i dont see nothing wrong with drinking a beer or your favorite drink as long as you can do it safely and responsible. I like drinking a few beers every now and then. But i NEVER drink and drive.

That right there is funny! Only in KY would you worry about drinking and driven and your false teeth giving a higher BAC!!! HA HA HA!!!:D:D:D
Just to let you know, officers do not arrest for DUI based solely off that little breath test road side. The test is accurate but inadmissable in court. The other field sobriety test and observation is most of the decision is made. Also, if (and I doubt they do) the dentures held alcohol, the intoxilizer at the jail would eliminate that posibility. It's smart enough to tell the difference in residual mouth alcohol and blood alcohol content, plus law makes officers wait 20 minutes for an observation period before conducting the test.
I'm not surprised at all by the numbers. Alot of good folks have made the mistake of drinking and driving. What people should try to understand that .08 is the legal limit, it doesn't mean you are drunk! Just under the influence. You actually start becoming impaired even lower, around .05 and you could be convicted of dui even that low!!!!!!!!!!!! Depends on the circumstances and evidence.

I don't think those are types of people but levels of intoxication. EVERYONE has the ability to be an idiot that lost touch with reality if you get ENOUGH in them. It may take more for some is all.
I have driven drunk twice in 5 years. Stupid. Nothing I'm proud of for sure.

I drove drunk as a teenager many times. I was stupid and lucky, but that's what most teenagers are. I've done all kinds of illegal things in the past that I'm not proud of, but I learned from my acts and I'm as straight as an arrow these days and have been for many years. I have too much to lose by doing something stupid.

skin dog, to answer your question about false teeth ,DO you had false teeth? the top plate [false teeth] will hold bits of anything that you eat or drink until the roof of your mouth absorb it which might take up to 2 hours but you are smart enough to figure that out yourself

Everyone makes mistakes. Why not admit to it? Because I'm afraid people will look down on me or because I feel like the police will seek me out and punish me for it? I'm not afraid of people looking down on me because most likely they are being a hypocrite. Also I know that I'm not perfect and don't always make the right decisions, so why pretend? Also the police can't come after me or anyone else about driving intoxicated in the past, so I'm not worried about that aspect.

Hopefully it will give people who has not done the stupid things that i have done something to think about. And maybe they wont make the same mistakes i did. And that just might prevent someone from drinking and driving and killing themselfs or someone else.
I was telling my wife just the other day about a brother-in-law of mine who use to take me hunting and fishing after my Mother & Father divorced when i was about 9 years old. And she said that was good that i had someone like him to have done that. And i explained to her actually he was a bad influence on me because he was an Alcoholic. He was the one who got me started drinking at about that age. She could not beleave that when i was 13 years old that i would have my brother-in-law buy me 2 cases of beer for me to take to deer camp. Of course that was to last me for the whole week. But i was a young teenager and I thought my brother-in-law was the greatest for doing that. I have never consider myself as being an Alcoholic or even having a drinking problem. But actually now that i look back at it. And even though i was never addicted to alcohol, i did have a problem with it. I shouldn't have been out drinking all of the time at that age. I should have been looking into a job career. But because i could get by with it since my Mother worked all of the time and could not coral me. By the time i turned 21 I didn't even think much about being of age to buy liquor. But i fit right in with the few of us they raise hell and drank. I wish now i had of fit in with the other percentage who didn't go out drinking all of the time and went to college, got good jobs etc...., all & all i ended up with a descent career but i think i could have done better had i of done things a little different when i was a young adult.

Well said. Not a proud admission, but it is the absolute truth.
As for admitting to breaking the law, well, a lie will land you in hell just as fast I'm told. When the time comes for me to answer, there will be enough to talk about with the almighty without trying to pretend it didn't happen. Maybe I'll get a point or two in my favor for keeping the conversation as short as possible.

Come on AteUp, that is hard not to jump on and run with but I will be a good boy.
I did in the early years of my drinking. On a few occasions I had the "talk" with friend on who is less drunk. You all know the conversation. Had it one night and I apparently was the least drunk of the 2 of us. I made it a block and a half and got pulled over for a blown head light. I had just bought the car and hadn't put the tag on yet, so the ociffer made me get out and walk back to the plate and put the tag on. I made it there and back without a sway, I sat down and he said and I quote, "you get your a$$ home NOW, I am going to follow you all the way there. If you so much as edge past a stop sign your mine." Needless to say that was the longest trip through Owensboro I have ever made. I got lucky.

I'll fess up... I'm one of the 8.
Never aquired the taste for beer. I have tasted some homade wine.. peach & muscidine that was without a doubt good but never drank more than a few sips. I've never drank enough other than a taste....much less to get drunk.
I guess a whole lot of it was how I was raised... my dad did'nt touch the stuff. Whole time growing up... we never even had any in the house. When I got older.. tried it ..just did'nt like it. I was pretty much the designated driver in my late teens when my friends & I went out.
They knew I did'nt drink but they were ok with it. Never was left out on any occasion where there would be drinking going on. I'll also add ..never bothered me one bit being around it.
Really never felt like I missed out...and oh yeah... I'm am Baptist.:D

I'm one of the 8 too. I've never seen anyone in my family drink, except papaw, and he hasn't in 21 years.. So I donno......... just wasn't something I was around til my teen years, and I tried it.. and i have to say that beer tastes alright at first sip, but the after taste is enough to gag a maggot!
I don't mind sipping some applie pie moonshine, or something of that nature. But to just go out and set out drinking to get drunk, I don't see the point in that.
and i'm not a baptist........ not really sure what the heck i am haha

Scott7m,
Well i will tell you what you sound to me like. A pretty smart guy ! I have been drunk alot of times and beleave me your not missing out on a thing. And dont get me wrong because i dont have a thing against someone drinking. I still drink myself but i dont get drunk anymore. I drink now because i enjoy the taste of a good beer, wine or mixed drink. But i dont drink to the point where i get drunk.
I dont know if you have ever met Phil Robinson but i met him at a hunters EXPO one time and he got up to talk and he wound up preaching more than he was talking about his calls and stuff. I am not a religious man myself. But he really got my respect when he started telling everyone about his wilder days. He started out somethng like this. He said and i qoute " In my younger days, i was mean & onery, i just didn't drink i stayed drunk, i use to smoke thoes left handed cigerittes, i cussed, chased wild women you name it and i done it." I think old Phil spoke the way alot of us used to be.
You know i think the reason alot of kids drink is to fit in and to be cool. Well buddy it is not very cool at all. And i am going to tell you from experience. I was as big of a partier, bar room & street brawler as there ever was. And i really thought i was one cool dude. I wish i could go back in time and do things over again. I just can not express enough to you younger people just how uncool abusing alcohol is. I am not saying it is bad because it is just a drink. It is how you use it that makes it bad. Sort of like the saying guns dont kill the people using them do.
