The wing ding things got started a few years ago after a forum member suggested a gathering at a local wing joint. A few of us got together in 2007 in WKY for one, and the WKY Wing Ding Thing was born. To date there has been gatherings in Lexington, Louisville, Somerset, Murray, Kenlake and now in Aurora. It is a good time for all. It is available to anyone that would like to attend.

Aurora is located about 15 minutes north of Murray, and 3 minutes from LBL or Kentucky Lake access. If you desire, the archery deer season is in on LBL, fishing on the lakes, and waterfowl hunting should be rolling along.

This one will include a cookout on Saturday evening, probably starting after everyone is finished hunting/fishing for the day. WKY (central) time, it gets dark around 515pm, so the festivities should fire off soon after.

No if you can buy the ticket you can watch the show. Although we might have underage people bring a waiver signed by their parents before admittance.

And JD if the word gets out too much they will stop me at the bridge and won't let me cross.

They are normally not something that you would bring children to but if you are not embarrased by adult language and beverages, there is no official age limit.

We don't need any under age drinking taking place there.

Heres a start for the fall fling wing ding...I'll cook up 30lbs of pulled pork on Thursday before I leave for Ky Lake,Friday morn. I'll do two big pans of cowboy baked beans.Ill bring the spuds ,onions and peppers for creek fries....this will give us a good start for a food fest...add items as you wish to be cooked....If anyone wants to try beaver,coon, ground hog,muskrat,rabbit,quail,and tree rats speak up.. I'll cook just about anything short of a possum and skunk:D
we will need to eat friday night,sat.morn and sat noon /evening.....add your name and what you want to bring

With all of those good vittles, I won't need to bring any bluegill, crappie, or white bass unless someone chimes in that they want some. I would be glad to bring any other fixins if no one wants fish fried up. My wife fixes some mean apple and peach dumplins if anyone wants deserts. I'd love to try the beaver, quail, and other uncommon delacacies.....I think I may have to bring my video camera this time to catch some video of the festivities......UTube here I come.

Well, I'm gonna be there but can't choose one of these. Can't choose #1 or #2, I live in Murray and my wife will change the locks if I stay out all night. I plan on being there both days so that knocks out #3. And I'm not even touching #4................... he already has 5 guys lined up and I'm sure that's enough.I have to agree with Mep. I'll be there, but since I live about 5 minutes from where the party is happening, I'll sleep on my own bed, or couch...depending on my condition afterwards...or depending on where the wife makes me sleep when I get home :rolleyes:

Yep, they are made. I reserved 3 cabins and got the official OKAY for cookers, smokers, fryers, coolers, and grills. It looks like it is a go folks....:D

Naw, not spending the night with you guys.....are you nuts, oooops I guess you are because you are staying there. If I had a gas mask , bag of sharpies, and fresh batteries for my camera, I might stay until someone passes out though. I honestly think their staying kinda across from Willow Pond( what use to be Sue & Charlies years ago. Honestly theres really not much left in Aurora... most of the motels are clustured together.

If my math is not too skewed, it should run about $50.00 for the weekend per person...I reserved 3 cabins, that should get everyone a bed. I spoke with them tonight, they have wireless internet for anyone that in interested in bringing a laptop.

Guys, I'd love to make it to the wing ding, but, unfortunately, I'm just not going to be able to make it. I've got our firm Christmas party on Friday, and a wedding on Saturday.

I'm gravely disappointed as the stories from last year's wing ding are now legend. Even Naturalelite, a reserved, fairly conservative guy, clearly "gets it goin'" for the wing ding.

Here's a self-photo that he took last year just hours before the festive event. What's really funny is that I didn't even realize that Natty was a Hoyt guy???? :D

On a related note, does anyone from the central KY area want to ride down with me on Sat.? or have room for another rider. I am not looking forward to a trip down and back by myself.

Non-Typ, my son and I are planning to leave Leitchfield early- mid afternoon if you want to ride with us. We plan on coming back Sunday Morning if you want to ride with us. Save you a couple hours by yourself both ways. Shoot me a PM if your interested.

Well, I hope he put on some more clothes before he hopped on the bus. The last I talked to him, he said the only thing's he was taking to the wing ding were his Hoyt Bow and his "slimming" archery belt with the side pocket to hold some money to pay for his "extra spicy" wings. :D
