Has any of you ever shotgun turkey hunted around the Blue Heron area. Where from the campgrounds can you go to hunt for turkey or any type to hunting.

The area around Blue Heron is very limited from a hunting standpoint. Weapons aren't permitted around the campground or any of the park area down to the river. If you are planning on camping at Blue Heron your closest place to turkey hunt would be around the Bear Creek area. Hunting pressure in this area can be high at times.
There are some really good campgrounds, minus water and electricity, near the Rock Creek area in McCreary County. These sites are surrounded by hundreds of acres of Daniel Boone NF and Big South Fork NRRA. These sites would offer better hunting opportunities, but less camping amenities.

Them Great Blue Herons don't eat very good - taste a lot like Spotted Owls. Kinda gamey.
That's funny. The ones up here in Michigan taste more like Bald Eagle.
Must have something to do with their diet. :)
