I use a Ruger 10/22 synthetic/stainless with a nickle simmons fixed 4X32 and CCI stingers. I can hit the heads from 0 to 150 feet if they will just stand still for 10 seconds. Wish I had more time to hunt them.

.45 Hawkins. Don't hit many so I don't have to clean many and most of those I do hit are already cleaned.

A CVA Varmit in 32 caliber. Head shots only out to 50 yards.

My favorite squirrel rifle is a Remington 552 speedmaster. As far as I know this is the only .22 semi-auto than will handle .22 shorts. Makes for a great day when you can find a hickory that they are cutting heavy and just sit and wait on them to ride in. The shorts (I prefer short hollow points) make so little noise, sometimes the other squirrels won't even stop cutting.
Like Flintlock, my new toy is a .32 flintlock. I haven't shot it enough to build up much confidence, but it is a TON of fun to shoot.

Nelson CBS,
I bought the rifle a few years ago at uncle lees in Greenville KY.
Rifle was 149, on sale, and scope was 29. got out for less than $200. I've got a sling on it and it packs well. I love the gun. I think now you will pay about $250.

My squirrel rifle for next year will be a remington bolt action .22 that will shot shorts and longs. Combined with a nice scope and some good shoting, the poor thing dont have a chance!<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

my favorit squirrel rifle is a Savage/Anschutz mod 164 sporter 22 bolt action with a Leupold 4X scope.the most accurate load for it is remington 22 target.they are very accurate and make little noise, about like the 22 short.great for head shots. If I want a little more power I go to CCI 22LR HP's.I have had the gun for about 25 years and have taken a lot of squirrel's and a few groundhog's with it.I have been looking at the new TC 22 semi-auto rifle, they look like a great rifle.

Boys sounds like from the scopes your useing you've got some age on you. I don't squrrel hunt. I tryed it a few time, but I cough my self looking for those big rattle snakes (at that time they didn't have blue tags) in stead of squrrels.
