I THINK the Saudis are starting to realize that we are starting to think about other sources of energy. The higher gas prices are, the more we think about it. The only way to keep us buying oil is to keep it cheaper than alternative energy.

Without high priced oil, all they have to offer is sand, and who the hell wants that. If they aren't making money hand over fist, they have to go back to killing each other with rocks. That is another reason I believe that once America starts down the path of energy independence, and that is going to have to include wind, nat. gas, domestic drilling, nuke and anything else we can use, that the bottom will fall out of the oil market. There is no loyalty among them, once they see that there is a decreased demand, they will fall over each other trying to get the remaining market, even it it means cutting the price to record lows.

That should be interesting in many ways. We currently have a military presence in the region, and that could get very busy in the future. Who in that region owns the infrastructure for oil exports? Who else uses the infrastructure? Who may not be able to use that infrastructure?

If Saudi does increase production, and others have a surplus, yes, it could drive the price down, but increase tensions in the region.

Doesn't seem to matter what oil costs. Oil is umder 100 bucks a barrel and gas is as high as it has ever been around here. It's pure greed. They use any and every excuse to raise the prices and we are stuck with it. It takes weeks or months for the price to drop a quarter and they raise it 3 or 4 times that much in one day on a whim. If they invent something else to use, they will charge out the butt for that too simply because they can.

You should work at the State Department. There are people making 100's of 1000's a year up there that haven't figured that out.
