Hello , I already told im new, I was just browsing ebay and seen some snare's, Im curious about how to set em and the advantage's and disadvantage of a snare. Are they lethal? Say I catch a coon and want to release it, is that possible? My reason I like to hunt the coons with a dog not steel or cable[:D]. And also I read about the landowner trapping, thats ignorant in my oppinion requiring a landowner licence! Do landowner traps require a nametag? And warden if you read this, I hunt with dogs, the limit on coon is 2, what if I have a trapping license, does that make my bag unlimited? If not thats kinda unfair to coon hunter's, they should be able to buy a trapping license and have the same baglimit!!!!!

Having a trapping license does not increase your bag limit. Making a coon step on a 1.5" pan is a lot less efficent than chasing him with a dog. I know that depends on the dog, of course.

Watch buying snares from out of state sellers. We can only use non-locking snares here in KY. There are only a couple of styles legal here.

All traps need to be tagged. No matter what the situation, nuisance, furtaker, or landowner.

Thanks warden, for the information, are the non-locking snare's lethal though? what type place is a snare most effective?
Yep youre right about the dog, mine are all small caliber! I suppose two a night is enough fur in their mouth.

foxin,

Snare is most deadly for a coon on a log running from bank into creek or log crossing creek from bank to bank. Catch em every time. Will catch possum and skunk the same way however.
