I just received my new 209X45 barrel today and was wondering if anybody else shoots the Encore. And if so, what load shoots best out of yours. Thanks in advance.

My hunting buddy has one, haven't personally shot it. He sez he is getting great results out of 100 grs of Triple 7 FFFG and a 195 powerbelt bullet. 40 Cal 180 grs also shoot very well with 2 45cal-50gr pellets. He tried to use 357 180 grain bullets with sabots, but they were too long to stabilize. He said 357 dia. bullets will stabilize so long as they were under 140 grains.

Thanks Salty! I think I've found the load for it. Its the same load as one of your buddies. 100 gr. of pellets and a 180gr-40 cal sabot. From sandbags, it'll cloverleaf at 100 yds. I'm only an average rifle shot, so I'd say that it capable of shooting better than that in the right hands. I've actually read of people getting sub-inch groups at 200yds with the right load and the right rest. If that is so, thats very impressive!!!

I got an encore over the summer and waited till this fall to shoot it. I am using 2 50gr pyrodex pellets and a 180gr 40 cal bullet in a 45 cal sabot. I had it bore sighted first. First shot was 4 inches low, dead center, at 50 yds. I adjusted my scope. Shot again, dead on. Put it back in the case, took it home and cleaned it. My next shot was Saturday at a mature doe at 15yds. Never knew what hit her. Sunday about 1/2 hour before dark I shot a nice 8 pointer from the same stand at 50yds. Same result, never knew what hit him. I have now shot my encore a total of 4 times and killed a nice doe and buck with it. Can't get much better results than that. I recomend it highly. I am now debating on whether to use my new Browning to chase the does or just use my ol 30-30. Either way it will be a blast trying to get my father in law, dad and brother a big one. Good luck to you all.
