•A person hunting wild turkeys SHALL NOT use live or electronic turkeys as decoys or take a turkey by the aid of baiting, hunt on a baited area while bait is present, or hunt on a baited area for 30 days after all bait has been removed. (A baited area is any place where feed, grains or other substances capable of luring wild turkeys have been placed.) Turkeys can’t be hunted over any private land area baited for deer. An area where grains or other feeds exist as the result of legitimate agricultural practices, or as the result of growing or manipulating a crop for wildlife management is legal for hunting.
Found this for ya on the KDFWR site. Was pretty sure this was the case. But turkeys love all types of mast crop if you want to hunt a food source in fall gun.

best thing to do is hunt an area that you know turkey are coming out at and feeding on grasses or a food plot you may have, just pop up a blind the day you are going to hunt for some reason those turkey doesn't seem to mind a blind at all.

Yes the turkey have been visiting the fields pretty regular, catching grasshoppers and eating the green stuff -- use a pop up in a field you may have been seeing birds and wait em out -- gets boring sometimes but when they come you'll forget all that

Box calls are great and they are really easy to use. But which ever call you are most comfortable with is the best one for you to use. I like my easy yelper, or slate calls, and I always keep lots of mouth calls with me. Only downside for me to a box call is they can be a little hard to hear on a windy day. I can make pretty much make any call with a mouth call and they are easy to carry...
