Work is slim around here and after applying for a Carpenter Supervisor position for the National Park Service,I am down to the finalists, nothing in stone, but you never know.I haven't been to the Smoky Mountains since I was very young, the only thing I remember is buying a Black Bear Chocola soft drinks to drink at a store somewhere.I grew up in the Appalachian Mts so that is not what I'm looking for, more like Cost of Living,Housing,People, etc
It would kill me to relocate or have to sell my place here, but sometimes finances make us do things we don't want,I doubt if I could sell right now anyway, sales are way down and my place isn't exactly on the beaten path.
Any info appreciated ahead of time,
Glenn P.

Glenn, It's a beautiful place and the people are fantastic. Being a tourist area, the people are a bit leary of "the new guy" for a little while, but most will welcome you when they find out you're a local. You'll get discounts on lots of things in the area just by letting them know you live there. IMO, it's a great place to visit but a better place to live once you get used to the fact that the tourists are the "bread and butter" for the economy there and learn to deal with the traffic and other problems that go along with all of the "outsiders". You'll figure out pretty fast that a few local families pretty much own the area. Get in with them and you're home free.
Good luck! I think you'll love it. It's a laid back place to live with some of the best that Mother Nature has to offer anywhere. I love living here in Ky. but if I ever move again I hope it's to there.---Mike Ezell

If I am moving to Tennesse that would be my choice. Nice country, good place for outdoor sports. I do alot of whitewater canoeing and there are several good paddling rivers in the area. Only downfall is the traffic around Pigon Forge, Gatlinburg, and surounding towns during the tourist season.
