Anyone interested in logging what they come across on their hunts afield? Perhaps we could start a sticky thread and those interested could post what they are running into, deer or otherwise. It might make for some interesting reading throughout the season.

I usually want to see deer. But sometimes I see other things. I saw a black bear last year while in stand. He/She never seen me. Gladly!
You probably want believe me but I have seen two mountain lions and as soon as they saw me they bolted out of there, and I swear the black thing looked like a panther. I know, crazy but it did. A doe crossed the ridge that I was hunting and then about 5 minutes later this black thing almost crawling was trailing it. It looked like a big black cat 100 pounds or more. The tail was 2' or longer. Slick black coat. I didn't use a camcorder then, but I wish I did. I know that it wasn't a dog. I mentioned it to the farmers and they said that was probably true. People has told me stories about seeing them and talking with game wardens about the state releasing them. You talking about be freaked out. I see coyotes a lot. A lot more than I used to. A rage broadhead really does the trick on them.
I was hunting in Elliott County. That was two years ago.

Yea I was trying to keep a fishing log this year but kinda strayed. I put weather conditions where I fished time how long I fished what I caught and average sizes. It would probably have turned out pretty nice but I screwwed up and forgot the last 5-10 times I've gone. LOL! But yea it sounds like a great idea. But you will get those I heard one and mis reports like I seen a 8 point that would go 170 in. and weigh 220 field dressed all the time.

Every year I say I am going to keep a log/journal. And every year I never even put down the first entry.

It was Obama looking for a running mate.

I think this is a great idea! Nothing like logging panthers and bigfoot! :D Sorry, could not resist!

On a serious note, I have a notebook that I have logged every deer and turkey I have taken as well as every turkey I have called in for someone else. I have to say, that was one of the best things I have ever done. i record the date, time, location and stats of the animal. It is suprising what I have forgotten about hunts and then read and remembered! I also like to save the transportation tags that I used on the animal.

That was part of the original question, but not sure who to address it to. Moderators, what do you all think about a hunting log sticky?
