View Full Version : Got married this morning
Yep, cost me $75.50 and took about 90 seconds. It was the best wedding I've ever been involved in.:D

Congrats.
and you're posting on here for your honeymoon.
You're off to a great start. :D
Thats my kind of wedding. I probably would have been married a while ago if I could get it done like that. Were you on break and in your "Brown Suit" or off work?
Thank you for the kind words, fellas.
I guess we both have a little different look on things than most as you may have guessed by reading some of the things I say on here. We've been together for almost 10 years, so not much is changing, if anything.
We both hate weddings, the time and money people spend is amazing to us. We also know that nobody actually ENJOYS being involved in weddings. I hate getting fitted for a tux, spending money on the tux, rehearsal dinners, ect... We saved our friends and family from a LOT of BS the way I see it.
We actually thought it smarter to take all that money we would have wasted on a wedding, honeymoon, and other things and put it towards something a little more lasting.
Anyways, we went to Applebee's for lunch. We may hit up Fazoli's for dinner.:D

Yep, I've been on vacation for the past 2 weeks. That's why my post count here has increased by about 800 in the past 10 days.:D

Well, congrats. That's a pretty fitting way to end a vacation. I am a litle jealous that your new wife sees things like that. I have been with the same one for 5 years and my incredible hate for weddings is the only thing keeping me a bachelor. She has been at me pretty hard about biting the bullet and I don't know how much longer I can fight it off.

All I can tell you is -GOOD LUCK.:D It's tough to change a woman's mind on that. Society has put it in their head that they MUST have a fairy tale wedding. I've had friends and family in the past couple of years drop north of 50K on weddings. To me, that's ignorant on so many levels, but that's just my opinion. I think you really have to dig deep and ask yourself what your main priorities are. For us it was simply getting married, but I think many (subconsciously) think of a wedding as a way to put themselves on a pedestal for a few months to everyone around them. Some people enjoy the attention and the drama, but neither one of us wanted any of that.
Knowing what I know about weddings, and going through it this morning, I wouldn't have done it any other way.

Unfortunately, my job would not let me off the same time Ryan was off so we could not do a honeymoon. We will probably go on a cruise next Spring.
Thanks to everyone for the well wishings :)

Congrats Art, you ol' UPS Driver you. Kinda kept it under that hat didn't ya. I like the way you guys are thinking, saving money, that's priceless. We had one of them, great big weddings, then topped it off with a big out of the country honeymoon trip. If I could have, it would have been more money down on the farm. Anyway, its' working out, but I do like the way you guys got it done. :D
Congratulations Art!! I wish u guys, all the best.

I wish I would have known Art, I would have passed on some very good advice.
Never get married in the morning, because you don't know who you will meet that night.

Congrats...I must say I'm a bit jealous. I wish I could have just spent all the money I have spent on pictures for our wedding and put it on a 4 wheeler. Oh well, she had to have the fancy crap but I put budget on what we are spending...not over $2500...and her parents said the same. Now she wishes we had just done it like you and headed south to sit on the beach.
