For the record, Newton has never been in trouble and really isn't the type of kid you have to worry about.

I didn't mean to offend, it just seems that nowadays these college athletes get into stupid stuff and get themselves into trouble. I don't understand it. They have the shot of a lifetime and throw it away on a little weekend fun. Let's hope college doesn't change this kid and he keeps his head on straight.

No offense take. I just didn't want people to think this kid was trouble. He comes from a two parent home, bothe parents have a strong influence on his life. He is thought to be a great all around kid, is well spoken and seems to be pretty smart. I don't think anyone will have to worry about the kid holding up a liqour mart with an uzi or eating a bag of pot.

How come rivals is calling him a 3 star?

Rivals has him at 3 and Scout has him at a 5. Either way it is good news.

It's sad that this type family is getting to be an exception rather than the norm.

Rivals probably downgraded him when they got word he was leaning towards UK. Had he not had UK on his list, he'd been 5 stars. The news outlets here have been reporting for a couple of weeks that this guy was in the bag.

Yeah, he is an absolute stud. About 6'2 215, has a rocket for an arm, and great speed. He ran for over 700 yards last year, and if I recall correctly threw for over 2,000. He is a dual threat QB. When your ranked a 5 star, which only 24-27 kids in the nation get ranked 5 star every year, you truely have all the weapons. And he does. Just for comparison, Tim Couch and Brian Brohm were both 4 stars.
He was recruited by all the big teams in the nation, and his final 4 were UK, Flor, Clemson and IU.
He has a 3.9 GPA, and has been taking advanced classes since 7th grade. His father is a DR, comes from a very good family. You won't have to worry about grades.
His highschool plays this Sat on ESPN, so if you want to see his ablity, you can.
As far as the different rankings, he went to some Scout camps, but didn't go to any Rivals camps. So Scout people were able to watch him and evaluate him, and made him a 5 star. Rivals was not able to evaluate him, so they gave him a 3, but said he will probably be moved up to a 4 star during his SR season.

If the program continues on its current path we will be going to "BROOKS STADIUM" to watch the games in a few years :)

His dad is a school principal and he is a quality student. Don't think he is one of them that you will have to worry about.

My question is this: what effect does this have on the other QB that just committed?

Good question. Looks like Brooks is making some progress.

The other kid, Mossakowski, and his father both said yesterday that is has zero effect, and that Ryan is 100% committed to UK. His father also went on to say that Alabama, Auburn and Texas AM, the 3 other schools he was picking from, all have several bigtime QB's on their team. Competition is everywhere, and his son looks forward to the competition.

The only problem I'm worried about is Brooks turning the program over to Joker Phillips,I just don't think he's qualified for the job.

While I am in no hurry for Joker to be head coach I think he will be a good one. His offense is what is making those QB's sign.

You make a good point, but everyone seems to think he is qualified. You to have to have the opportuniy and that is what Joker is promised.

I look at it like this: most here know I am a Louisville fan and I wouldn't mind seeing UL do the same thing with Jeff Brohm. Like Joker Phillips, at least you know where their loyalty is.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Joker around pre-Brooks? I don't see where he affected recruiting then.

Joker didnt come back to UK until 02 when brooks did. joker was there in the early 90s but wasnt any significant position. He hopped around programs after that and was a wide receiver coach for a while.
