Plastic or wood? Performance or looks? Factory or after-market?

Brownells has a series of synthetic pillar bedded stocks strictly for savage rifles. They come in several styles and have an aluminium skeleton to make the stock more rigid. check our brownells.com

I have heard that Richardsmicrofit.com have horrible customer service and poor quality. Anyone else can comment, but I was told this by someone who purchased. FYI

Ebay. I was looking for a thumbhole stock for one of my rifles a while back and several on here told me to check on ebay. There are a ton of stocks, everything from factory to extremely customized on ebay for every gun I have ever checked on. A lot of the links take you directly to the factory outlets also. I found some great deals for stocks on ebay.

These may be the stocks that you are referring to when you said Brownell's has em'. They are about as good as they get when it comes to a stock for a Savage..

Bell & Carlson has some pretty good ones for Savages also.

Depending on what kind of stock, Snipercentral.com has some very good ones.

If you are looking for Walnut I may be able to help, if you don't mind waiting a few years for it to season.

I spent the biggest part of yesterday sawing up a Walnut stump and some crotches into stock blanks. The bugs beat me to the stump, I only salvaged a few pieces from it, but the crotches were very nice inside.

Here are some pics after they were sawed in to 3 1/2" slabs. For reference the saw bar is 36" long.

If you are looking for a laminate thumbhole, Boyd's is the way to go. I have worked a few up for guys and they are good stocks. If you are looking for a synthetic, Stockade specializes in Savage stocks.
