I know that Owls and Turkey's have been around together for a long time, but the Great Horned Owls sure put a big dent in the turkey population around my place.Every year I have 2 or 3 hens that will start out with up to a dozen poults each and by fall they are whittled down to a few,of course other things kill the poults too,but when I see them nearly grown and they start disappearing I have to wonder. There are 3 big owls around here best I can tell from listening at night,I've found their handy work too.Sometimes makes me want to knock a couple of them off,but we all know that's a NO NO.

A few springs ago caught an owl on video swooping at three gooblers in a feild, and saw one second week of the season this year harrassing a hen as she walked across a strip mine. No doubt they kill poults, they're not even afraid of the adults as far as I have seen. But not alot we can do about it.

we got 2 pair of owls around our farm and see a flock of over 200 every winter. id say the owls arent going to do to much hurt on them as long as a few poults survive the population will still be going up. lots of things can happen to a poult thats why they start out with 12-15 eggs.
