Well everyone, I must say its been a real long time since I've had to sit in a school desk. I guess that after this week that'll be history. Some of you know that several of us on here lost our jobs in July at one of the bigger factories in E'town. I worked there for nearly eleven years until downsizing got us. That being said, I decided it was time for a career change. The prospect of being a 30 somthing freshmen is scaring me to death, but so far the instructors seem to be pretty helpful. If I can remember everything I've forgotten over the last 15 or so years I think I'll do fine. I'm already seeing that this is going to really cut into my spare time as studying seems to be the main thing. I'm still hoping to hunt and fish but I realize it won't be nearly as much as normal. I'm really hoping when this is over I'll look back and be glad I did it as I've beaten myself up for years about not going after high school. Wish me luck fellas, cuz I'm really gonna need it:cool:.................
So long as you go to class, do your homework, and study a little you will do fine. Heck I got through and didn't do any of the three. I will say this though, now that I am graduated I have less time than ever to hunt or fish. Good luck, college is an investment that you won't regret.
Stay away from the Liquor Barn and the dance team and you'll be fine.

I'm going into the nursing field. I know its kind of thought of as a woman's job, but I also know I won't have to look real far to find a job:D. Don't think I'll have to worry about getting laid off either. The idea of being able to actually help people on a daily basis really appeals to me. Then there's also that little deal of working 3-4 days a week I'm looking forward to as well. I've worked so many years of twelve hour shifts and/or seven day work weeks I could do 3-4 12's standing on my head:D.............

It's probably the smartest field to get into. I have some friends that do it and make really good money. Like you said, they are practically begging nurses to work these days. I see ads for sign on bonuses all the time.

Back in my college days, I found out real quick that the best students were the folks returning to college after working a few years, having babies, etc. When we started forming study groups I made sure i got with some of the 30-somethings because they had their stuff together.
The women were there because their kids got big enough for school, and the men were former military or successful guys that could take a break from the career to go back and get a degree.
Going back to school is surely scary at your age but you've got a lot of advantages over the brain-dead 18 year olds that are there wasting Mom and Dad's money. You'll do fine.

I know just about as many men in the field as women although women outnumber men as a whole. You will have no trouble finding a job. So what school you headed to? I took 3 years off school and was kinda nervous so I can imagine you are...relax and everything will go fine. That whole thing about studying that they always tell you about...that crap actually works:D and there I was thinking they were just sayin it to get me to cut out beer and girls...I've done better this time around than I ever have in my entire life! I guess now I have a little more motivation..I know whats waiting for me if I don't make it through school

I worked in a hospital for 5 years back when I thought I wanted to be a nurse. Then I realized I didn't like sick people, patient's ignorant families and doctors. Good luck, hope you don't mind wiping adult butts!
