A question to an gunsmith or anyone else might help. I've got a model 50 winchester light weight 12 gauage. Now this gun has been a squirrel killer in the past years but now seem's like the gun has lost it knock down power, having a hard time killing the squirrels. Still using the same shells I always used and that would be Winchester's,anybody have any ideas, what could be wrong with it.

I not a smitty but if this gun is a auto loader then the gas piston or seals could be wore out

If your meaning effective killing power it would almost have to be an ammunition problem (ie-old ammo). The only thing I ould think of that would a problem with the gun would be a gas leak or blown out choke.

The Ol' Winchester Model 50 were not gas operated. Recoiled against a spring.
Seems like there was an adjustment for shooting low or high brass. Seems like they made some spun glass barrels, may have shot choke out.

Aim more carefully!!:D!! ...Just kidding. It's probably the ammo. Try some heavy loads in it. ---Mike Ezell
