Has anyone else noticed in the fishing guide, that the state record northern pike, came from Laurel River lake!? Wonder what thats all about!? I've fished that lake my whole life and have never heard of a pike coming from there. Plenty of big walley but not a pike.

Years ago they used to stock a few,at least some people did, can't remember if KDF&W did or not.Anyway they soon learned it wasn't a good thing, you occasionally still hear of one caught .

There's not supposed to be muskies in Laurel Lake either, but I got one to the edge of the boat before he bit my line off.

Several years ago when I was a member of the Kentucky Silver Musky Club a member caught a pike during our spring tournament. I believe it was caught in the Little Sandy river. Good fish, too at 35 inches. Biologist said it was a stocked fish and that it probably jumped out of its holding container and into the one that held musky fry. Since musky were stocked in the 9" to 14" range, that pike had been there for a while.

I had heard from someone that the state record fish is mounted and hanging up in a shop at coebin. Dave and Rex's I think.
