I am fixing to put a scope on my Ruger .270 - I have 2 there at the house to choose from -

a - Sightron SII 3.5x10x42
b - Burris Fullfield II 3x9x40

Of these 2 which would you prefer?I think I'll use one of these to keep from buying another scope.

I 'd go with scope a. I have a .270 with a 3x9x10 on it but it just seems like it need just a bit more!

Probably depends upon what you're hunting and where, but I've got a 3X9X40 on my 30.06 and it is perfect.

Scope A.

Will be a little better in low light conditions.

Take a good look at the Sightron. I bought a Fullfield II last year and have to say it isnt as functional as expected. Low light conditions leave a lot to be desired compared to some Leupolds.

I have a sightron 3x12x40 that I love, I loved the price too. Don't they have the same glass as the Leupold?

The Burris will not fog and would be plenty.
