anybody use this? any luck? im debating whether to put out no plow or extreme, going in and clearing 20 yrs of pine growth with a dozer this wk, then throwing a ton of lime on it, just wondering my best bet for the condition.

If you watch the DVD from the imperial folks they still say get a Soil test. I had no idea my PH was so bad. I tried the sample packs and "nothing" came up. Now I know why. You would hate to spend $$$$ on their seed an nothing. You may need more than lime.

I planted it last year the only problem I saw was the deer didn't seem to hit it till december, but that could be different on your farm. Also i did till the land up first i have no idea how it will come up without tilling or disking it first.

ill disk it after the dozer work. just wondering how it would perform with the lime being applied so soon before the planting.

we limed the day before we seeded and it seemed to come up but we planted a bit early and had problems with weeds taking over some of the plot. we have also had alot more rain this year which may have helped it come up before the weeds. Good luck and i hope i works well for you.

I would plant Buckwheat this weekend. As long as you get in in the ground now you it will mature in 7-9weeks just before frost. Buckwheat also makes an excellent "smother crop" because it germinates rapidly and the dense leaf canopy soon shades the soil smothering most weeds. It will grow well in poor soil and is also a good soil conditioner that can be turned into your plot.

I wouldnt use either product till you get that soil sample done. First frost will probably be around the first week or so of October in Somerset. Gamble abit, disc it in a little early....mid september and try getting something else in and established.

Whatever you put in that plot afterward will do ALOT better!

I helped a nieghbor plant some we worked our butts off preparing the soil with an ATV pull behind disk. We made two small plots. It came up think and green within 2 weeks about 2 in. high but I havent seen it since. So I don't know how it matured and how the deer respond to it. I would say that as quick as it grew as long as you get the leaves off the top of the ground you will still get good results without disking. I'm shure good steady rains will help too. By the way this was in the smack dab middle of the woods and we didn't even lime so I don't think it much matters but I'm shure it wont hurt.

good but expensive product that in my experience looks better than it works for deer attraction.

I would think that soil is extremely acidic, so I'm not sure how it will do. I think it's a good option for a small plot like that though.

It will come up with "no plow", but it works much, much better if the soil is at least disced.

i used it last year and it grew fine without tilling deep. i just raked the area and created some loose soil. but i never once saw the deer eat it. i had corn with the no plow too and they always looked over the clover.
