Spreading Lime

I have always spread lime on fields before the spring planting season on bare ground, so I was wondering would be okay to spread lime on the plots that I have out before planting between the rows of the existing plants? Would this burn the plants up that I have growing now(soybean, corn, sunflowers)? thanks in advance.
