I am going to be hunting over a small pond in the middle of a funnel with lots of sign and was wanting to put a lick out. What's the best one to buy?

A plain old salt or trace mineral block works pretty well. By the time the season rolls around they won't hit mineral sites very hard in my experience. They tend to burn the mineral sites up in early spring and through summer. By Septmember they dont pay a lot of attention to them. Does anyone else notice the same???

Yea they really odnt use minerals much during the hunting season. They usually only use them for antler growth and milk production during the spring and summer months.

Bout middle sept they tend to go to the mast crop, the temp is lower and the does are weaning the fawns, the racks are done growing. they are starting to show a little dominance and the bachelor groups are separating, I would put a feeder of corn and try that,if it is as good a funnel as you say I would leave it alone and place a stand early, going in putting corn out will only increase the chances of spooking Ole' mack daddy out.

I use the trace mineral block.

yeah, during season, especially late season, it sucks, but if you can get a some road salt from your road department, mix that with trace mineral and buy some di cal to go in it, you've got one heck of a lickin coming your way. It is bitter for the first month until it saturates the earth, then, they're on their way.

John,
I used your recipe this year and it seems to have done a great job. The deer have been tearing them up since Spring.

That basically the same thing that I have been doing. They seem to like it.
