I had been looking for a good club to join since moving to North Carolina last year. Yesterday I finally found one. The club has close to 7000 acres and straddles the NC/SC Line about 50% in each state. They had some nice (by this areas standards) deer taken last year.
The game laws are so different SC versus KY. In SC bucks are unlimited and gun season comes in Sept 15 and lasts to Jan 1. The use of dogs is allowed in certain areas of both states. Does require a special tag and can be hunted only on certain days of the year. I've got alot of reading to do on regulations.

Let me tell you that the SCDNR has their head so far up their you know what! SC could have a nice deer heard with quality bucks if they would learn to manage their herd properly, instead they slaughter 99% of their bucks each year so you're lucky to see a spike each season. You hear stories and will still see some good deer killed each year, but it's usually individuals that are doing something right to manage their deer. Good luck, I hope you got in a club that understands QDMA and doesn't allow their members to go hod wild with the bucks. Get ready to learn the way it's done in the south! Unlimited bucks, doe days, no field dressing.........

The club has a 15" spread restriction unless it's a child's first deer.
I agree about the management of the heard, it seems *** backwards to me.

North Carolina isn't any different. I saw the "trophy" board at a local check station/gas station when I lived there a few years ago. The biggest was probably a 90" 8 pointer. So, if the club manages well, you might do okay. Good luck and post some pics for us when season rolls around.

Depends on where you hunt, North and South Carolina have some big deer.

No doubt, but they are typically on well managed, larger parcels of land.

I just recently moved from NC to Ky and love the way the laws are setup here. One buck rule makes you think twice before shooting. Back in NC we could kill 4 bucks so you got guys shooting anything with horns because they have reserve tags.I have repeatedly let small 2 and 3 year old bucks walk only to here them shot on the land next to us. Makes you wanna give up. On the KY downside i had 200 acres back home and have knocked on many doors here with no success. But not giving up yet!!!!

Welcome to the bluegrass state fellow carolinian. Been here for about ten yrs now in the Lex area. It's not so bad but they got their basketball all mixed up. They think it was invented here. They have two teams, UK 1st string, and 2nd string. Probably different on L'ville.
