Dad's only (but very important) duties on the 4th are:

1-Grill up the meat for all to enjoy

2-Light the fireworks in a "responsible" manner***

3-Don't get embarrassingly drunk:eek:

***the definition of responsible varies according to region, culture and economic status. Please be as responsible as your upbringing allows.;)

we just came in ourselves:D Pot Roast (age almost 4) declared the fireworks to be "wicked awesome, dad!" a phrase picked up from his older brother... Hunter (age 7) is already in the "what if we" mode on the fireworks, wanting to put them in things, blow things up, throw them, etc.

my lab, as usual, is going crazy. he runs around in circles and barks at all the distant flashes and booms.

We just got in from Lake Reba in Richmond. They put on a hell of a show. We normally do a small show in the street but the kids were already asleep.

Back in my college days I caught a few bass and gigged a few frogs in that lake.
