I read in today's Murray Ledger that some group out in Oregon called something like The Forest Service Employees for Ethics is suing the U.S. Forest service for subsidizing farmers in LBL. I'm not sure where I stand on this issue. On the one hand, I'm not big on the fact that the feds kicked families off lands that were past down for 200 years and then commercializing it. On the other hand, I'm not sure I like some wacko, liberal group from Oregon getting into LBL affairs. Can anybody shed some light on what is going on here?

I found an online article from Clarksville, Tennessee's Leaf Chronicle:

My Uncle farms 840 acres on the North end,he told me that in the lawsuit the enviroterrorists are demanding that farming be done organically, can you imagine planting corn and beans and just hoping for the best! You may recall that last year he lost his farming rights and sold all his equipment after 20 plus years at LBL,this spring he got the chance to do it again but a lawsuit was immediately filed again, who knows what's next, hand harvest only!!

Maybe all the enviro-nazis will come down to LBL to protest and leave with about 1000 seed ticks stuck in each of their hides.
I do have a sense of compassion for the families who were displaced in 1960s. They were told that their farms would never be used for commercial operations. Lots of them look at farm subsidies as the government paying farmers to farm land they were kicked off of. I can see why they would get fired up more when some enviro-wacko is putting a bug in their ears every time they press a lawsuit. There's no doubt that farming areas of LBL is good for both the wildlife and the farmer. Lord knows TVA or US Forest Service would just screw it up if they tried to farm it.
