BAR in my opinion, but I prefer a bolt action (Rem. 700).

kinda like asking what car is best. Tough question to field, especially taking into consideration different uses

I have to agree!!!! I was always a bolt action man too...until i bought my Safari in 25-06. It is more accurate than any model 700 I have ever shot and I have shot and owned a few!!

The ONLY 700 I have ever shot is a Muzzleloader. ALL of my bolt action rifles are A-Bolts and they are all smooth as silk not to mention tack drivers, even the .338 Win Mag. ;)
I got a .243 7400 in a trade once but sold it before ever firing it. I have a BAR chambered in .270. It is a sweet piece.
I thought the same thing with a shotgun,,,,that I wanted an autoloader,,,so I bought a 391 Beretta. Well I hated it and went back to an O/U. ;)

There can be no question that the best semi auto is the older model Browning Bar. I say older model because I don't know much about the newer ones.

For zombie/Tango suppression, I'd think one of these General Electric mini guns would come in handy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbXDmiqo6a4&NR=1

I have a Colt HBar 223 It never jams and I shoot 6 holes in a dime at 100 yds. I also have 2 Norinco sks rifles which never jam and are more accurate than an ak47 I have a Rem 7400 in 308 which is a nice gun. The problem is the stupid 4 round clips Remington offers and the 10 round aftermarket are hit and miss. Whoever designed this rifle made a bad choice with the clip configuration. The standard clips are hard to slide in fast and only hold 4. Other than that if you get the right 10 round clip the gun never jams and is accurate to about 1 and a half inches at 100 yds. However Im glad I reload as the firing pin wont fire most military surplus ammo either. Wish I could find 20 rounders for it . One company used to make them. Remington doest want someone to make an assult rifle out of it just like their new 223 its a pump action only!

I have a S&W M&P-15 just waiting for the opportunity to clear a house.
It's a fun way to spend a hundred bucks in an afternoon.
for a huntin' gun....as much as I hate to say it, the BAR might never be felled as the best auto.
I've repaired too many remingtons to even pretend like they should be in the running.
