Found a hatched off nest Thursday. Looked like she hatched 8. The nest was 7 feet from the edge of the pavement on a county road. That smart old hen knew the county only mows 5' off the pavement. That's the second nest I've found. Have been seeing hens everywhere but haven't seen even one poult this year. Several of the area farmers have reported finding nests and going around them but not one said they have seen any poults. Saw 6 hens dusting in a newly planted bean field Thursday but no poults. It's looking pretty grim on my place so far for this fall and next spring.

Just got in from checking a couple of camera's,had some pictures of 2 hens with around 10 poults the size of quail. Was driving up an old logging road on the 4 wheeler to check another camera, got off the atv to pull the SDcard & heard some real light kee kee's told my boy that it sounded like young birds...When we were coming back the way we had just came from I seen something cross the logging road & it was some more poults but these were close to a foot tall & could fly,I know they get breed & hatch at different times but that's a heck of a size variation in 2 different broods.....wonder how much age difference there is between them...I'm just tickled to be seeing some little-uns......

Sounds like most everyone is having luck seeing the young'ns. Am going back to the farm later this week for two or three days. Have about a days work to do and then finally play time. I'll spend that watching hens and looking for poults. Sure hope I see some.

Watched 5 hens yesterday afternoon for about 10 minutes. Walked up on them at about 20 yards. No poults. Went on to the very back of the place and saw 5 gobblers and a hen in bean field over on the neighbor. Watched them for about 20 minutes. The gobblers were about 25 yards, the hen a little farther. The hen didn't have poults. I think the toms were probably 2 year old birds. Had beards about 8" long. That makes real close to 60 hens I have seen since the day before squirrel season opened and none have had poults. I'm getting really depressed now.

Finally, today was the day. Saw about a dozen hens, singles or in pairs, with no poults. Then all of a sudden saw 2 hens and 16 poults about the size of frying chickens. Problem is they're about 75 miles from where I hunt. Was glad to see them anyway.
