i have a pond that has cattails completely around it. it makes it pretty annoying to fish. i was told at a farm store that roundup would take care of them and not bother the fish. i know roundup would work, but i have some good fish in this and am wondering if he was right about not killing the fish.

has anyone tried this or is there something else i could try?

thanks

contact your fisheries biologist. They'll give you free advice and may be able to direct you to a cost share program to benefit your pond.

not for certain but im pretty sure if you read the label on roundup it says not to spray around water sources. its not the actual roundup its the surfactant that is in it. TSC has some stuff that is pretty much roundup but made for water applications.

Have used roundup several time in Trimble county with great success; without harming any fish. Works best if you spray it on 8-10am on a hot windless day before it gets real hot. Then the heat will cause the plant to absorb it. Avoid rain. Do it now on the young shoots. Spray heavy or you'll redo it. It gets complicated but the manufacturer of roundup choice to get it acquatic certified(expensive) under another trade name to increase their product line and overal sales. Basically what they certifed was roundup with a different name. Thats what I was told at the farm store where a friend bought a 30 gallon drum of the stuff.
