I think the turkeys had a great hatch, I have seen more little one's this year than any other year. Seems like everything is doing great this year, I just hope we get enough rain this summer!

Run into 2 hens and numerous poults at Higginson-Henry Wednesday morning. They were a little bigger than adult Quail.

A buddy of mine is mowing hay today and jumped a hen, he got and checked where she was at and he found a nest with ten eggs in it, boy its seems late for them not to be hatched yet.

Mowed hay this week. Ran off 3 hens all had eggs in the nest. Found one nest already hatched off.

There are always hens that re-nest due to various reasons for loss of original nest.

Was excited to see 2 hens with what looked to be 30-35 poults fly across the road infront of me on Sunday evening. Amazing hatch this spring.

I've camped out 3 or 4 days a week for the past three weeks and have seen probably 35-40 hens out wandering around by themselves but not one poult. Did find one nest that had hatched off or predators got it. Don't know which. Been seeing one group of 4 longbeards regularly so that's good but I'm beginning to get a little concerned about not seeing any poults.

That's the reason the FSA won't allow mowing of CRP ground between May-August. They don't want nesting birds disturbed.
