Anybody think Big Brown may have thrown the Race? Lot of money on the race...

nah, that horse just didn't have it, the jock would have had one hell of a time holding him back if he had wanted to run. I think its simple, this was his first race without roids...

Some people will look for a conspiracy in anything.....
Look at it this way, imagine the big bucks having a triple crown winner.

Roids or cracked hoof? I think lack of roids. I think it should be illegel but if everyone else is using, Why not?

Because of the cracked hoof (as was mentioned on tv) big brown missed some workouts, which means he was a little behind schedule heading into the race. On top of being a little behind, this was his 3rd race in 5 weeks, which he had never experienced before. Also, you throw in the fact that this is the longest race he had ran and the fact that it was 93 degree's out and it makes since to me why Big browns conditioning broke down. IMO all these factors came together and B.B. couldn't overcome them.

IMO most likely he bled about the 1 mile mark and just ran outta wind.

I've watched a lot of Horse racing and if you watch the replays real close the 6 horse kicks Big Brown rounding the first turn as Big Brown got to close....if you watch close as he gets kicked he raises his head up quite a bit from the impact of the kick... Then when Kent took Big Brown to the outside he bumped the 8 horse and got off track a little. So adding these two things to the lack of training, the cracked hoof, the 93 degree's, the longest race of his life and 3 races in 5 weeks....Alot to overcome to be a Triple Crown winner....
Setting with my Father-In-Law as the horses were being walked in for the Audience to view. He looked right at me and stated there's the winner...The # 6 horse as he walked in view and gave the stats....My F-I-L has a TVG account and jumped up and went to his Computer and made some bets for the race.
The race starts and the # 6 takes the lead and wins wire to wire...I'm all pumped and saying how much money he's going to pay....38-1 odds and I ask my F-I-L how much money he bet on the # 6?...He looks at me with a real sad look...I didn't bet on the 6, I bet on Zito's other horse the 8......
I tell ya, he's probably still sick today over that horse bet......:(

That's a good assessment. Respected Trainer D. Wayne Lukas said as much: "I think they compromised his training schedule to adjust to the quarter-crack. I think they thought he was good enough to overcome it."
I read a post somewhere where they pointed out that his Derby and Preakness times were unexceptional, he just had no competition. Getting a little out of shape, in the heat, a mile and a half and coming off a dose of aggressive-enhancing Winstrol anabolic steroid killed his drive I think.

Yep, he's obviously not injured either as his jockey said "I didn't have any horse." B.B. didn't have ANY gas left in the tank when it was time to turn the burners on down the final stretch. Its a shame he wasn't able to enter this race in peak condition, I thought he was as serious a triple crown contender as there could be. Oh well, thats what makes winning it so special, you have to overcome more then anyother horse in the race.

Well, the horse will have the life now...he has made his money for the owner, and now he gets put out to stud!!! Tell me that isn't the life!:D

There's also speculation that he was coming down form a steroid diet that ended before the Derby.

no speculation to it, they admit they were giving him monthly injections. the shot they were giving him is legal in most states. they claim they quit giving the injections to prove that he could do it without the juice

in the paper today they reported that the amount he was given for a 1200# horse was about half the amount a 200# man would take illegally.and the effect would be the same as not having your morning orange juice.

Duthrow is now blaming kent Desormeasx's ride for the loss. He's a real piece of work. after all his mouthing, he looks pretty stupid:mad:

I have been pulling for the horse since way before the derby, but that trainer is a class A prick. It was almost worth seeing Big Brown lose just so he would shut his pie hole for a while.

A trainer at Churchill Downs, David Carroll said it best I think. He was attributed in today's CJ with saying, "I think it just probably all caught up with him, a combination of things. Third race in five weeks, the foot, lost training, mile and a half -- a lot of things. There hasn't been a Triple Crown winner in 30 years, and there's a reason for it. And never tempt the gods."
