Anybody around here from Eddyville? For about 30 years our next door neighbors were Arthur and Jennie Towne. Some of the best folks you'd ever want to meet. Both had grown up in Old Eddyville. He took a job with the FCI in Eddyville and while there helped execute about 13 inmates in the chair. Think he told me he helped strap them in and kept time for the executioner. Later they were transfered to Tallahassee's FCI and became my parents neighbors. Both have gone on to their heavenly reward now, but I'll always remember these folks. I beileve they still have family there today.

I worked in and around Eddyville for several years but don't know any Townes. Had to make job related visits to the pen and the prison farm several times. Never minded going to the prison farm but everytime I topped that hill on Pea Ridge Rd and the big house came in view it kind of made me draw up a little. Nice area and good folks there but I'm prejudiced since it's near my hometown.

My great-grandmother's house was in the shadow of KSP and is now at the summer pool level of Lake Barkley. I remember being told of the lights dimming when the big switch was thrown. I'm not familiar with any Towne families around but I'm a few miles west of KSP and my family in that area has all passed on.

We lived in Eddyville a few years when I was real young, in apartments, Butler Apartments if I remeber correctly. We moved there when my dad started working for the state correctional department and moved back to this area when Northpoint outside of Danville opened. I dont remember alot about living there excpet the pool and tennis court that was close to where we live. We used to go swimming everyday.

Packed plenty of inmates for eddyville and took plenty of transports from eddyville. Knew staff from down there but not the ones your refering too. Eddyvilles official title is "Kentucky State Penitetiary"...Its the states only "maximum security only " prison. EKCC where I worked for the state was rated to hold maximum but only housed one dorm of that custody level. FCI actually stands for "Federal Correctional Insitiute" which is federals name for a medium security. USP's or "United States Penitentiary" is federals version of maximum. ADX or "Admax" is the federals super max in florance,Co..

have a great uncle and great aunt that live in Eddyville. He passed away a long time ago, but she still lives there. He was an engineer and one of the guys that worked on the Barkley Lake project. He knew all of the good fishing holes back then; old railroad beds, gravel pits, etc. He died before I was ever able to fish with him.

Anybody remember Les Riley from Eddyville? He mechanicked around on tractors and small engines. He lived near the city pool on the west side before it became developed, probably died in the 70's sometime.

He was a fascinating character. I'd like to know more about him.
