I am looking for a nice clean place to camp next month for vacation. I have never taken my kids camping before so I will be buying a tent to stay in because they have been on me for awhile now. Any suggestions that would have a pool fishing from bank and maybe something else fun?

No pool but a beautiful mountain stream for swimming and tubing... Perfect for fly fishing ot small spin casting for trout..
Elkmont Campground in the Smoky Mountains... Inside the National Park...
I have camped there multiple times a year since I was a child. One stay and you will be hooked. I promise..

We take the kids to Green River state park on a regular basis (we usually stay at Lone Valley campground, you can tent camp right on the water, clean bath houses too) Lots of playgrounds for the kids, sand beach at the campground to swim in, Corps of Engineers visitor center with native animals and fun stuff for the kids, fishing from several places. take the kids and a loaf of bread to the marina close to the state park. walk out on the dock and feed the carp (100s of em, big ones) and bluegill. my kids get a kick out of watching them eat bread, go figure. its pretty centraly located for KY and a pretty good place to camp. If you change your mind and take a camper instead of a tent, take an extension cord, found out the hard way that some of the electric hookups are farther away from the set up area than they should be
there are some really nice campgrounds in the big south fork area of KY and TN as well, some of them have pools.

LBL has some nice campgrounds, lakeside. It's hard to beat Hillman Ferry or Piney for the easier camping experience (water, electric). Personally, I prefer Rushing Creek for the view and privacy and more like roughing it. It has drinking water, chemical toilets, concrete picnic tables, grills and pits.

Depends on if you want solitude or plenty to do for the youngun's? the Corp of Engineer campground below the dam at Buckhorn lake is very clean, beautiful, and never crowded (at least not up to year before last, you can fish in the river tailwater below the dam with campsites right next to the water or in the lake. The State Park is only 4 or 5 miles away with a pool, beach, rental boats, hiking trails, etc
There is a really cool all log church (supposedly the largest in the world I think) in the little town of Buckhorn which is very close to the campground, there was a water park and go cart track by Hazard about 15-20 miles away, and I have seen Elk hiking the Mts around the Lake before.
If you don't mind crowds and want plenty to do,it would be hard to beat Mammoth Cave. Here is a link to Ky State Parks and Buckhorn =

Rough River Lake and Nolin River Lake offer great primitive or Electric and water camp sites. You can fish from the bank at each location and they both have a swimming area located close by. Nolin has a kids playground area for the youngsters at Moutardier Camp Ground. Not for sure about the Iberia or Wax Camp Ground sites at Nolin. But I would about have to take Nolin over Rough right now since Nolin is so hot from the fishing aspect now.
Go to www.reserveamerica.com to check out any camp site in KY or other States your interested in.....

there are several places such as you mentioned in my area
butler park (carroll co)
eagle valley camp ground (owen)
hardy lake (indiana)
lake jerico (henry co)
any of these will suit your needs
all these are within very reasonable distance from you which is a plus condisering the fuel prices
if you have any other questions feel free to PM me

Well if you're buying a new tent and just now going, make sure you get a decent one with LOTS of screen on it, because it will be hot. Try to get a Kelty or at least a Eureka with as much screen as possible, don't get the wal-mart special, the better ones are well worth it.
Barkley is a nice but overlooked campground in Kentucky, near LBL. Plus they do have a restaurant, pool, and arcade, so the kids will have fun stuff to do. The campsites are really big and the staff is laid back.

If you don't mind leaving the state of ky for a better state In. :D you could go 1 1/2 hours west of Louisville to Scales Lake. I worked there for two years. It's got a beach for swimming; diving boards and a water slide with pool at the bottom. Primitive and RV sites available. Primitive sites I think are somewhere around $12 a night. Hiking and mountain bike trails and playgrounds in the park. Bath houses are present too. Boat access (trolling only) is also available. If you want any more info just PM me.

Hey thanks everyone I am still looking. My wife and I love camping but just introducing the kids to it. I am looking for some places that have shade, electric and water and low traffic we will be good to go. I myself love roughing it. I will look into all the suggestions you all gave many I have been to before but they just slipped my mind. I will keep you posted.
