Man I remember those days of old......Seemed like nothing tasted better than a hot dog or Cheeseburger from the concession Stand.... But most of the time I remember getting in for $ 5.00 a car load. Some nights the mosquito's would do a number on all of us while we were at the Drive-In.

we take the kids to the one in harrodsburg once or twice a summer. they have a heck of a crowd most weekend nights. first run movies, and if you bring your own drinks and snacks, you can do it pretty cheap:D

I believe the one close to the house cost $7.00 per person now, not sure about the one in Georgetown. IN. Not bad for two movies and they are generally new shows. But going to the Indoor shows will cost an arm and leg, just like if your filling up a vehicle with gas.

Large Popcorn - $ 5.00
Large Soda - $ 4.75
Box of Candy - $ 3.75
Admission - $ 8.75
___________________
Total for one = $ 22.75 the cost for an indoor show if two people going add another $ 8.25 to the total.......

They still have one near Paris,Ky.

Parked in the back row with my girlfriend at both Florence and Dixie Drive-Ins in NKy many times, got out to pee one night at Florence and ran straight into a scavenging skunk that sprayed my car, couldn't park by Dad's house for a month.

Havent been in a while, but used to visit the one in Stanford frequently, and maybe visit the flea market during the day once a year.

My first movie was the shinning at the Somerset drive in.. We went to see the Black Hole but it wasn't playing that night, and since my mother read the book, and we were already there, the Shinning it was.. I believe I was like in the third or fourth grade.. The good thing about Somerset drive in was it was a double drive in.. During the scary parts I would turn around and watch the other movie.. Can't think of the name, but it had Dolly Parton and Slyvester Stallon in it.. There is one in Paris off of 68 and one close to Mt. Sterling on 11.. I'm going to take my 8 year old to one this summer to watch Kung Fu Panda.. I want him to see a drive in..

The first movie I ever saw at a drive-in was the original Star Wars. Man that was one of those things that I will never forget. That drive-in was a lot like the one that they show in the movie Grease, it had a playground area with swings and stuff for the kids and all kinds of neat things!!! I drove by one while working over around Salyersville in Magoffin County the other day I am pretty sure. At least that is where I think I saw it. It looked pretty nice. There was one open in Corbin a few years ago, that was the last one I have been to. I don't know if that one is still there or not though.

We load up the truck and hit the drive in north of Owensboro in Reo, IN. Kids under 12 are free.

Holiday weekends have all night drive in. Two new movies followed by twoolder movies. I don't think anyone ever actualy watches the last two movies.;);)

The last movie I saw at a Drive-in was TightRope w/ Clint Eastwood at Harrodsburg. Before that we used to go quite a bit to the Star-lite in Danville, anybody from that area knows thats been a while.

Was the star lite over off Burgin road, I barely remember goin to it, there used to be one over in Liberty as well, behind the Lees Chicken is now. It stood for years before they finally tore it down.

When I was a teenager I worked at the Paducah Drive-In. This was the one in Lone Oak with the big indian on the side facing the road.

I guess it burned a long time ago; it was there when I joined the Navy in 1980 but sometime before I moved back it disappeared.

That was probably the funnest high school job I had.

Hey all! I'm a middle-aged gal from NJ. We used to have drive-ins all over the state, but all have been gone for many years. That was back in the days before A/C. Since then we have a lot of malls, town houses and other buildings there, instead. Thanks for bringing back some great memories, though. :D

We used to have one here in Leitchfield. The owners had a lake beside the drive in that was open for swimming (Allen's Lake). That was the big thing when I was a teenager running around in the 70's. We would go to the drive in on Friday or Saturday night and go swimming on Sunday. Got a lot of sunburns and saw a lot of movies. Good times.
