I am wanting to paint a aluminum boat of mine. I would like to use OD Green or some type of military issue paint. What would be the best stuff to use and where could I find it for sale? I have been told that I should use acrylic enamel, is there any truth to that?

Acrylic Enamel will not stick to bare aluminum very well. A two package epoxy primer followed by any camo enamel will work the best.

You could get a white epoxy and have it tinted and leave it alone but you will have chaulking issues to deal with. Epoxy coatings have very poor UV resitance, but stick to about anything from plastic to chrome....

Power wash the boat with detergent....rinse and then scuff with a scotch brite pad then wipe down with some naptha and apply a couple of medium wet coats of Activated Systems 2K epoxy and then camo with enamel as desired......If you need to know where to buy the epoxy just ask me....I make it!
