My experience has been setting in a blind at a known field crossing and waiting them out -- I tried last season in the afternoons and overshot a hen -- thats alot like deer hunting the waiting part -- some actually call for them and says it works

Those little bitty ones are super easy to call back in if you can scatter a flock in September. Plus, they'll fit whole in a crockpot.

Early Sept is one of the tuffest times to pin turkeys down as row crops may not be ready & acorns haven't dropped yet. Afternoon hunting pasture fields yelds bird as turkey love grasshoppers that live there. Scouting is a must, but really when isn't it? Find water, & what foods are available to lure birds & you will b into turkeys!

You just have to know where they are feeding at most of the time in the fall. Sometimes you can call them in but it's nice to be waiting on them after fly down to come to a field they like to use.
