silt pond bass

i was just wondering how well bass can live in old silt ponds. I know of several large deep ponds on my relatives property that were created after strip mining several years ago. as far as I know no one has ever tried stocking them. these ponds are very clear with hardly any vegetation growing (which worries me that the ponds still have a high level of acidity), and have several large trees down in them due to beavers .these ponds are completely surrounded by woods. any advice would help, thanks
