I have been there twice in the past week and several times since it was flooded. The Largemouth fishing is second to none in my opinion. Just this past week I have seen one over 7 hooked, I lost one some where around 7, landed a 6 and 2 5's. It is flooded timber all through out the lake. It is pretty crowded during the weekend and deserted through the week. This lake is very new and in my opinion the new state record will come from there.

I would love to go but I am not going to fight the crowd and hunt a place to park. From what I hear it is extremely crowded and gets worse every year. Go during the week or fend for yourself.

I caught several good crappie last weekend using live minnows under a bobber. They were shallow around trees and brush. Nothing real big to brag about though. 8 to 10 inchs mostly. I hear the gills and shellcrackers are really turning on too. I might grab a tube of crickets and try those bad boys out this weekend. Good luck!

I have never had to fight for a parking spot and I fish there a lot on the weekends. I don't unload at the dam ramp though.

I have been doing well with crayfish color jigs and a berkley gulp crawdad that I use as a trailer. I have also had luck with white spinner baits and sexy shad type crank baits in deeper water.

Sounds good. I have several friends who go and they have had times when they could not find a place to park and most of the time they say it is crowded. Maybe they don't want me down there, lol. ;)

:cool:LOL. Maybe so. Dont get me wrong, there are days that it is crazy busy, but I have never had a problem parking or anything. It was really dead when I went today and this evening when I left there were a few more, seemed like alot of people fishing from banks instead of boats.

If you unload by the Dam you have to fend for spots with the bank fishers and swimmers so it always seems really crowded.

I went Sunday right before that big storm blew in. We were catching the fire out of them, caught one that went 4lbs exactly and wasn't a keeper. How many lakes have you been to where you can say that? I am still drying out though.

This is true. I dont see why they wanted to make a swimming area in a "trophy fishing lake" anyway. There should be a fee for swimmers since they take the parking up at the dam lol.

Maybe so some of the local folk can have a place to swim?:D There are no local pools that I know of......its funny if you look there is a no swimming sign..well the sherriff started writing tickets when the folks got to court the local judge tore there tickets up his take on it was that if they didnt want people to swim then they should not have built a beach:p

I went Sunday too. We caught a few small bass. And I caught one that was 4lbs 2oz, but only 19". It was a chunk. Got the boat out just before the storm.

Thats funny. Yeah that is the only place to swim in lincoln county. But Danville is a hop, skip and a jump away and there are plenty of pools there. Oh well. Im sure it brings it alot of revenue for the county and I deff enjoy the place.;)

I don't think there is anything wrong with the swimmers at the beach. What I do have a problem with is the kids that swim by the bridge where all of the pallets are. I saw them tearing up the pallets and steak beds. They were hauling the pallets out of the lake. This was about the time that storm was rolling in and the KDFWR had headed off the lake.

I've been out the last 2 mornings and I think the bass are in a bit of a post-spawn/summer bite transition. I caught 8-10 both days and 2-3 were good fish. All my good fish were caught on soft plastic in 8-12 ft near deep water. Smaller bites were on buzz baits before the sun came up.

One of the 4-5 lbsers looked to still be holding eggs? Or it is eating VERY good?

Yes it will be for bass, we could either do for biggest bass caught or the most weight. i would like to go for most weight but they will have to be legal fish. and a 5 fish limit.
