I was thinking about going to Williamstown lake to do some bluegill fishing. I don't live too far away, but have never been there. Anybody know of good spots for bluegill? Can you run your big motor on the lake? Any info on the lake would be appreciated.

Williamstown lake is 300 acres, unlimited HP. There are 2 ramps on the lake, cost $5 to put in. Williamstown Boat Dock and Ruby's. Don't fish on the lake on the weekend. It is a party lake with a lot of skiers, jetskis, and drunks. I would fish early at daybreak and try to get off of the lake by 10 or so. There are some bluegill in the lake and crappie, but tend to run small. Decent bass lake. I would target the boat docks and fish shaded areas. If you can find the water pump house area I would try that area also. Since it is a small lake with alot of ski boats the lake gets rough and there are at least 2 bad accidents a year on the lake with casulties. Very dangerous during summer months. Fall and spring are best times to fish the lake. Good Luck.

Not to discourage you, but the gills that we caught were little also, I'm talking about 6-61/2
But who knows, maybe you can find the big ones.

I live in Williamstown and have fished this lake all my life. There are some nice fish of most every species in there, but, if you are looking for bluegill, hop on highway 25 and travel 10 miles south to Corinth Lake. It lies between highways 25 and I-75. Great little lake, very clean, tons of shoreline vegetation, and really not much pressure. I was there with my brother memorial day and you could catch any and all of the fish you want. We fished for the bluegill and redear and caught bass, both of those, and a channel cat to boot all on tiny jigs under floats. Fun lake! Not to take anything from williamstown but folks jet ski and wake board on that lake from February to December and with the exception of week nights you could have your boat thrown up on a dock very easily. They do publish the weekly results of thier wed night bass tournament in the local paper and i know some of the guys who fish it and they do put some nice fish in the boat.
Just my .02
Enjoy wherever you fish,
Chris
