I've got jobs going in Grayson, Breck and Hardin Counties and as I make my rounds, I'm seeing a bunch of birds still strutting. Looks like we are going to have a good carryover of old warriors to do battle with next spring.:D

Does it seem like they are breeding later this year?

The cooler than everage spring, especially May, tends to keep them feeling spring in my opinion. Had it been a hot May, wouldn't be seeing or hearing much. Always some May or even early June breeding of hens that lost nest.

My first turkey was a Jake last year. My son's first turkey was a Jake this year. His had a longer beard and more longer feathers on its fan than mine. Could that be because his was born earlier in the season?

The birds are still definately wanting to do their thing. I heard no less than five different birds gobbling multiple times all day yesterday while fishing. Heard another Tom gobble six different times Sunday afternoon about 5:30................

I heard one gobbling at the thunder serveral times yesterday. That's generally an easy call-in.
