Just bought a new farm with a 1 acre pond on it and it. Any tips on how to get it surveyed, shocked, to get an idea of what I got in it and come up with a game plan for possible stocking it? it also has a leak right below the drain pipe about three inches, what is the best way to fix it? The previous owner said it was stocked 20 years ago with cats and smallies, but the neighbor said he has caught nothing but big ass carp this year. Did last years drought maybe turn the pond over? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rip Rap Rock (sp) may block that leak good enough for you. In southern in a load costs around $200 don't know how much where you're at. Contact your local DNR and he should help you shock it. I asked about shocking in an earlier thread and Quackrstakr said he knew several people getting it done for free by the DNR. Has your neighbor caught anything else in the past? Fish it? Find out for yourself. That's always fun. Set up some catfish tightlines or jugs and throw some bobbers and live bait etc. Run the gammet and see what you come up with. A new pond is like a bad hooker. You never know what you're gonna catch.:D

If the leak isn't horrible, there's a product called bentonite that is a hydraulic clay which might solve your leak.
