Anybody correct me if I am wrong but I believe that you need to move the rest the opposite of the way it tears. So you might try moving it up and to the left. But it could be many different things. How far is it tearing?

Before you start moving things........how does the bow group??? A lot of things contribute to a tear on the paper, if you are 5' from the paper it might tear one way & if you are 10' away it could tear in another direction. The arrow bows & flexes as it leaves the rest.
I know a lot of 3D shooters will disagree, but as long as my bow groups OK, I'd stay away from the paper, it can cause a lot of unnecessary grief trying to make a bullet hole.
I saw a olympic shooter group great with a bow that when shot at paper looked like you threw a chain saw through it.

I have a document that was on the bowsite home page a couple of months ago. I'll e-mail it to you if you send me your email address. I would post it but can't figure out how on this site.

Wow it worked. I don't think the photos came through but you can picture it in your head and pick one of the recommendations suggested.
Hope this helps.

My reasons for asking how far it is tearing goes along with what salty is saying. I would not get too hung up on trying to get it to tear a perfect bullet hole if you are shooting a good group. Xtreme gave me that bit of advice when I was paper tuning a bow of mine. Another thing he informed me of is "Line Tuning your bow"
1. Shoot one arrow at 20 yards and hand a string from the nock.
2. Shoot another arrow with the same pin at 30 yards and see if the
arrow is kicking to the left or right of the string that will tell you if the arrow has any bad flight.
Xtreme has also mentioned that the bow could be driving tacks. But shoot it through paper and it will tear it in half. Hope this will help.

shooting W/the front of the bow about a yrd from the test paper, 5:00 tear shows your rest needs to move right, and drop your rest down or raise your nocking point on your string. Once you have a clean hole step back and try again at about 5yrds and again at 10. If things are right your broadheads will hit in allmost the same holes as your field points.

Like the others said, there could be various reasons for this. I would recommend checking out the fletching to see if it is hitting the rest. An over powered bow for the size of arrow will also cause this, but take into consideration the distance your tuning at. To close and your going to have a hard time tuning. Keep it around 15 feet away.
