I recently purchased a spool of the new Berkley Fluoro 15lb to try. I have been using fluoro for several years without any problems. For whatever reason I got a bad spool and it cost me some money during a recent tournament. No problem, I understand things happen. However, after thinking about it I decided to contact them to let them know what had happened. They basically treated me like I did not know what I was doing and told me use a different knot and if that did not work to try a different knot. That was their emailed response and you could tell they were talking down to me like I had no clue. Needless to say, I was not happy about their response. In the meantime, one of their competitors got word of my problem and offered to take care of their situation. Within days I got a brand new spool Vicious fluorocarbon line 15lb. Talk about customer service!!!! I responded to let Berkley know that somone else had taken care of it and they began to apologize all over themselves saying that was only the first step. How was I supposed to know that since nothing in the email stated otherwise? Oh, so now they want to take care of me and my problem. Nope! They decided to send me a "care package" for my trouble after they acknowledged their mistake. I got it in the mail and it included a couple $5 rebates off fishing line, a berkley sticker, a walleye harness with a couple berkley worms and a texas rig kit with a couple hooks & worms!!!! I guess this is to make up for the $20 worth of crappy line I bought! Needless to say I will not be buying anymore Berkley Line.

Thanks to Elite Fishing for stepping up and taking care of someone elses problem. They know how to take care of people and their customer service is excellent!!! Thanks!!!! Also, after one day of use with Vicious Fluoro, I am very impressed.

In light of the fact that we don't know what actually was written in either of the emails, you have to figure that the majority of customer email complaints and problems that they receive on a daily basis are probably from people that really don't have a clue and are not tournament anglers.

I also highly doubt that any line company would just send out a refund or a "care package" to anyone and everyone that sent them a complaint via email without something to back it up.

I don't use Berkley line because I simply don't like it.

I'm glad someone stepped up to the plate for you. It sounds like Elite's $20 gamble in advertisement is paying them back in spades.

All good points quaker but it was a little more complicated than just an exchange of basic emails. However, I don't disagree that is probably the majority of their inquiries and I thought about that. Regardless they should of inquired a little more in order to determine the problem considering a $20 investment by me. Being that I work for a consumer packaged goods company I understand a little about customer service. It was just poorly handled plain and simple. It was so bad I wonder if it was a reflection of the company or just the individual. I'm tempted to call and find out cause this type stuff (when it is really bad) really bothers me.

As for the knot, I used a San Deigo knot and the improved clinch knot. Berkley said to use a trilene knot and if that did not work to use a Palomar knot...... Most pro's (myself included) are not big fans of a palomar knot for fluorocarbon.

Quaker, regardless of this past situation with Berkley line, I am not a fan either. Years ago they were a good value for the money on some of their other lines such as big game, etc. For whatever reason, their quality has really gone down hill over the last several years when it comes to line, IMO. As for elite's gamble, your right. However, one good thing about their line is that you can get a 250yd spool for $11 versus Berkley which will cost you $19 for 200 yds.

Just venting! Thanks for listening, HA...

Where can I get some of this line, I haven't seen it anywhere?

Relatively new line. I think Backwaters in Lexington carries it but not sure of their price. The elite-fishing.com website has it from $9.99 - $10.99 for a 250 yard spool. You might try Uncle Lee's first, just in case.

I wade fish here in eastern ky and I bought some new berkley fish line this year and had nothing but trouble with it. So I went to a local store picked up a spool of Elite fishing line just to try it out and after 3 fishing trips I can't say nothing bad about it..
