I was there about 2 months ago on business and drove by to take a look at the fishing potential. Drove into the park area and wasn't very impressed. The bank was steep and didn't look very family friendly especially if you want to take kids.

The spillway did look promising if your willing to walk the creek a bit.

Not saying it isn't a good place but I wasn't impressed by the limited amount of time I had to visit.

I drive often around by the state ramp less boat trailers there in the years since I moved back. There were some reports of good size crappie catches a month ago.

The creek below the spillway is not worth looking at, very shallow and on private property. See a few people fishing the spillway hole but looks like small bluegill is what they are catching at this time.

You may be able to find some good bluegill bed's in the main lake with a little searching. Also channel cats should be on the upswing just be aware of the size limit on them.

thanks for a heads up on the spillway. I thought if I got back in the area that would be where I would spend some time on a rest stop (I love business trips) but sounds like a shouldn't bother wasting my time.

I won't be driving down specifically to fish there from central KY for sure. Too many nice lakes real close by

thanks for those who responded. we caught around 15-20 catfish, they seemed to be around the rock dropoffs around coves. got in a couple schools of bluegills but nothing to brag about. all in all a good fun weekend!
